For centuries the Jedi Temple has been a sanctuary of learning and protection. It houses some of the wisest, most powerful beings in the universe.
Outside the Jedi Council chamber awaits a Jedi Knight and his padawan, summoned by Mace Windu. Little do they know that the assignment they are about to receive will ultimately change both of their lives forever. |

FIRST OF ALL-------
I should say that this campaign is very good.
Playability-3
Yes, 3, because in level 2 the Padawan goes to a differant player for a chat, but he never returns! I don't know why, but I know that this was unintentional. Over all it was good though.
Balance-5
Balance was great! Not too easy, and not impossible.
Creativity-4
Creativity was good, no new trigger tricks or anything, but some good style.
Map Design-4
Map Design was good, the only problem was that there was no eye-candy, and eye-candy makes it look more realistic. Other than that it was good.
Story/Instructions-5
Story was great, it's captivating and well thought out. Instructions were good, easy to follow.
I advise all to try this campaign, and wait for PART 2!!!! |

review re-posted due to "system swaller".
Playability: 4
A few trigger bugs in the second scenario keep this from being a 5. It's a straightforward set of missions, with two cutscenes, a fixed-force mission, and a small B&D. A nice mix.
Balance: 3
There are only two scenarios to rate for balance as the scenario is half cutscenes. Scenario 2 is not very well balanced, and the only reason I beat it was due to summoning Simon and using his particular brand of Ewok 0wnage.
First of all, due to an apparent trigger bug, at the point where you meet the refugees, they all come under your control EXCEPT the medics. I'd wager this was unintentional, and the medics are probably really important in the last battle.
Speaking of the last battle, two Jedi and a bunch of troopers cannot beat an assault mech, a bunch of battle droids, droideka, and strike mechs (all of which are designed to kill troopers en masse), especially without any medics. Hiding in the command center helped... until the assault mech said hello. But then, we were toast.
On the other hand, the seige of Juyu was nicely paced, with several waves of attackers coming just fast enough that you had time to build up, but once they started coming, the pressure was kept on. Still, you weren't overwhelmed.
Creativity: 3
The plot was interesting, albiet a bit of a Phantom Menace re-tread. Still, I am curious as to why the Syrus Corp landed on this planet, and would like to see part II. Hopefully, as this appears to be very plot-driven, more attention is paid to development of the Padawan character in the future. It is, after all, A Padawan's Destiny.
The author also didn't re-name his two hero units, so even though the dialogue refers to them by name, they still appear as Jedi Knight and Jedi Padawan. No real fancy trigger tricks or anything, just something pretty straightforward.
Map Design: 3
The Coruscant levels look nice, with some good attention to detail. The Naboo-style cities are nice, if nothing amazing, but level two is Path-Through-the-Trees-Syndrome on a large scale. The map really needed to be smaller, and the forest was a tad bland. Gaia predators don't attack reliably and aren't a good challenge for troopers or Jedi at all.
Story/Instructions: 4
See "Creativity" section.
Overall? Good, promising first effort. Lacks polish, but nothing that can't be improved with a little more playtesting and study of good eye-candy-producing designers. Looking forward to part 2, I am. |
