Playability: 1 The playability here is downgraded by the lack of story / instructions. Player 1 starts out with what apparently is a Naboo city that is poorly-designed and confusing. After hunting around the map for a minute or so, I eventually found a small force of Ewoks under my control in some secluded place across the map. Evidently the pathetic little Ewoks are supposed to liberate Naboo from the Trade Federation? Well, why is there no Trade Federation then? It's all so confusing!!!
Balance: 1 I'll admit that I didn't try very hard to play the scenario, because I was deeply disappointed. I didn't get much of a glimpse of the enemy, since my force of Ewoks was secluded in the middle of nowhere, so I really can't comment on Balance knowledgeably. From my precursory glance at the map, however, it looks meager at best.
Creativity: 3 I'll give it some minor credit for being creative. Sure, the plot made no sense, it had nothing to do with a Battle for Naboo, and I really really hate Ewoks (which also don't make sense in this map), but I think the creator should at least be given some credit for making something original. Afterall, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and a lot of work clearly went into the map-design aspect of this scenario.
Map Design: 1 I thought the Ewoks made no sense, but the map made even less. Using "forceexplore" and "forcesight" I took a detailed look around, and its definitely not Naboo. The creator apparently made use of every terrain and every building in the game. There are portions of desert with Tatooine units on them, areas of lava and volcanic ash, and large empty metal areas that inexplicably make use of dozens of energy collection repositories, jamming devices, and other random objects.
Story/Instructions There is no story or instructions at all. There aren't even any triggers, except for one that was apparently supposed to make a Jedi patrol somewhere, but it was done wrong and doesn't work. After this, I really want to park myself in my chair and play SOTE for an hour or so...
Overall Regardless of everything I just said, I do see some potential buried under a mound of nonsensical nonplot. The map is covered with units, which, with a few triggers, might be made to do something. I advise the creator to contact me at JaceVaritek@cs.com. I'd be happy to work with him/her to improve it. |
