Turn Based RPG Template
Unzip "Turn Based RPG Template.sc1" to your SWGB GameScenario folder and "Immobile-RPG.ai" and "Immobile-RPG.per" to your SWGB GameAI folder.
This is a complex RPG Battle system that will require a great deal of trigger skills to finish. So far, this template can do Random Battles, Luke can use all of his abilities and Leia can use her Force Heal Ability. The abilities that can be used so far with Luke are, Attack, Steal, and Item, which includes Life Containers (Resurect characters), Health Containers (Heals characters), and Force Container (Restore's character's MP). Although, if you plan on finishing this template, I suggest you give Han the Steal ability. That is, if you're using Luke, Leia, and Han. As you're characters. However, You can change the characters by changing every condition and effect that has them in it to the character you're replacing them with. The scenario contains an AI to detect commands. I'm am unable to remember all the resources, including Misc. Counters, that each ability or option uses, so you'll have to explore a bit to find out. It'd be a good idea to write them down too. I did write down in the trigger description for any triggers that I used negative numbers, like for healing, and told you the value I used. Although, save often because you may still touch an effect with a negative number that I forgot to give a warning about. Leia has 2 more commands that aren't active; these include Force Summon and Item. Force Summon was going to be where Leia could choose a beast to appear and make an attack at an enemy. Item should be used for everybody, so just repeat the triggers I already did for Luke, you may even be able to reuse some of those triggers for other characters. The Thermo Detonator trigger is just a temporary battle sequence for Jabba. I suggest you redo it so it's not based on a timer and make it one of the random attacks Jabba can do when it's his turn. All other enemies have no attacks as of yet. Also, there is a looped Battle music trigger that uses the Display Instructions effect to play it. Placing any music file in your SWGB Sound/Scenario folder as RPG Battle.mp3 will automatically loop the music. Although, I may have reseted the selection of the file, so be sure to select it again in the "START BATTLE" trigger and the "RPG BATTLE MUSIC" trigger.
NOTE: Type 4 to cancel commands during a battle.

Another excellent piece of work by Tevious! This template has inspired me to create a new Dueling System using the AI from this template. Anyway, about the template...
I recommend that anybody planning on making a Turn-Based RPG Campaign to use this template as a guideline. MDN14's showed effort, but this is simply the better of the two currently out there. I found no flaws except for one. I would steal an item with Luke, but later when I used his item ability, the health containers would have no effect on either character. Also, I think perhaps you should have had at least one group of enemies attack, just so others would have an idea on how to do that for the rest of them.
Great job Tevious! Although this was only a template, I found this to be quite entertaining. |
