I don't like to give bad reviews to people who are trying to make something nice and publish it, but this was the first scenario I downloaded from here, and it really disappointed me in the level of some scenario makers.
PLAYABILITY-1
This is where I really have to shoot this scenario down. The map wasn't particully fun, but I wanted to finish it anyway, which became nearly impossible later on. When you've passed a long boring path with a couple of rebel outposts you reach a bridge. A bridge you can't cross, because the editor didn't place the edges far enough on shore. This really pissed me off, I play all this time to find out that the editor didn't even BOTHER to test this scenario and fix the bridge! I move my cannon as far up the bridge as possible, and miraculously, due to it's long sight range, it manages to activate some reinforments on the far side of the bridge. YESSS, I'm not down yet. So, I stroll up north and guess what: another unpassable brigde. This time no reinforments on the far side, so I can't reach the main rebel base. Damn. I move my units back to the startposition (giving myself the time to make some much neede hot cocoa). I then use my cannon to clear a path through 30 tiles of dense forest, and reach the base the hard (and unintended) way. Victory anyway, thou shalt not bring me down!
BALANCE-3
Believe it or not, the balance, although FAR from great, would have been acceptable if the bridges had worked.
CREATIVITY-2
Very simple scenario, destroy enemy base, capture palace. Nothing original or innovative.
MAP DESIGN-3
Create a forest map, make a long and not-winding road, a small (annoying) river and two bases (rebel and empire), and you pretty much have 'Imperial Quest'. The bases weren't even all that bad. Especially the rebel base. It would have been even better if the base wasn't so square.
STORY-2
Very few spelling and/or grammar mistakes !!! Not hard if you only write 6 sentences. No in-game dialog. In fact, no triggers at all! And guess what: Darth Vader and Boba Fett don't REALLY have to survive ;)
Plus Points
+could have been a few, if the map editor had bothered to test and improve his scenario.
Minus Points
-NEVER EVEN TESTED BY MAP DESIGNER
-Faulty bridges and triggers
-Very plain, boring 'rush job'
I believe a wise man once said something like : "Map designing is 10% talent, 20% skills and 70% effort"
And that effort was not present in this scenario. Hopefully the effort will be there in this desingners next endeavor, in which case I would gladly give him a good review.
Keep trying!
