Playability: 3
This is a one-time scenario. It is impossible to lose. Play goes along smoothly until the end, though.

Balance: 2
Like I said, it is impossible to lose. One probot against a Chewie and Han. But it is accurate for what really happened.

Creativity: 3
Not much to create. Most of it was layed out for the desiner by the movie.

Map Design: 3
Not much to design, really. Bases looked ok, but there was alot of loopholes. The suggestion of Han getting on a Tauntaun looked cool, but was kind of morbid if you made Han shoot the animal first.) You could completely bypass the rescuing Luke part by killing the one probot in the "far east" (China?) The custon mp3's really added a nice touch.

Story/Instructions: 3
No before-hand information, no objectives during game, either. Most instructions are given out in the game, but if you didn't catch what they said (too busy making Han shoot the Tauntaun) then it could be a little confusing.

Overall, a completely accurate scenario of what really happened. Unfortunately, what happened wasn't all that involving to begin with.

'Before the Attack on Echo Base' could best be described as an extremely basic RPG that just barely manages to not be considered a fully cinematic scenario. It's based roughly on the opening scenes of Empire Strikes Back; the events leading up to the Battle of Hoth.

Very short and simple, but doesn't really manage to be particularly fun. You simply walk around between cutscenes, and listen to some neat dialog.
==========

Balance: 1
The only enemy you face in the map is a single Probot, that you immediately win after killing. Because you fight it using Chewbacca and Han Solo, it's a pretty one-sided fight.
==========

Creativity: 3
Scenarios based on film events are very common. As basic as this is, I'm going to go ahead and give the author a bonus point here for effectively using some of GB's default audio files to good effect during the dialog.
==========

Map Design: 2
The map is about as simple as it gets. Echo Base is a small circle of Rebel buildings surrounded by cliffs and mountains, while the rest of Hoth is a blank, hilly void of Snow. It serves its purpose, but isn't very pretty.
==========

Story/Instructions: 2
The addition of audio to the dialog is neat, but there are no written instructions or briefings of any kind.
==========

Additional Comments:
This basic scenario fails to be fun or memorable in any way. There exist much better GB interpretations of Hoth.
