Of all the luck, your stuck on a out of the way planet, and guess what, YOUR SHIPS BEEN IMPOUNDED! you must raise 7500 Nova to pay the unpaid traffic tickets, so you can get off this dustball! Jobs you can take range from robbery to hits to demolitions to hunting down stray school children.
Based (sort of) on the Jedi Knight level of the same name, if youve got JK check it out at Massassi.net :)
Note: this is an EXTREMLY beta map, the few triggers arent guarrentied to work, and two of the three cities are incompleat, so its pretty much just the map, all I want is some feedback, and mabey someone to help with triggers :) I also need a good AI, the Immoble unit AI I have doesnt work. |

Playability:
I tried to leave the field on "none" but the site wouldn't let me. There is nothing to do in this scenario. Not a single thing. First time, I accidentaly garrisoned Obi-Wan and R2-D2 in an AT-AT. Game over, I couldn't see my units. Besides that, there isn't an enemy to attack, so nothing can be done.
Balance:
How can there be balance? There isn't an enemy.
Creativity:
A promising piece of work, but not even close to done.
Map Design:
Looks nice, but kind of confusing. Alot of stuff going on in lots of places at the same time.
Story/Instructions:
Besides the description on the site, there isn't a hint of what you are supposed to be doing or what has happened. This could easily be fixed by doing a few objectives and a couple instruction effect triggers.
I hope that the full version will come out sometime soon. It sounds and looks promising.

Life of a Merchant is the based on the idea of an 'open-world,' type of scenario as demonstrated by several popular campaigns like "Life in the Big City" and "Coruscant Life."
This scenario is a very, very basic and nonfunctional 'draft' of one such map.
None of the features or events listed in the above description appear, and the entire scenario contains only 4 triggers, which themselves don't appear to properly work. The only thing you can do is wander around what little framework of a world there is until you get bored.
==========
Balance: 1
The scenario contains no enemies, or combat at all. There's no way to win, or lose short of killing all of your own units. Or by letting the Monument timer count down, since the author didn't even change the victory condition.
==========
Creativity: 2
Open world, sandbox type games are very complex, and difficult to pull off. When done right, they can have an astonishing amount of depth and creativity. While the author's idea may have been neat, this scenario fails on every level imaginable to make use of that creativity.
==========
Map Design: 2
Arguably the best part of this. There are three main towns in the map, each consists of rectangular walls of identical buildings along straight roads. The areas in between these towns are featureless, single-terrain voids with a narrow stretch of metal leading you between them.
==========
Story/Instructions: 1
Despite what the author describes, the scenario features no objectives, story, or instructions of any kind.
==========
Additional Comments:
The author of this may have had a great idea, but it does not carry at all in this non-functional 'alpha' of a scenario. Not really worth a download. |
