Intervention on Aares IV

Clone Campaigns required?: Yes
Style: Fixed Force
This straightforward fixed force scenario gives you control of the Empire's 1028th Mechanized legion in order to take a small city on a plateau overlooking an important road junction, on the background of Imperial intervention to favor a side within a local conflict.

This map was created to test some new elements introduced by Expanding Fronts. What I consider most notable are the changes to unit classes through triggers: faster and very powerful bombers, individual troopers with grenade launchers, troop transports that can follow the tanks, repeater troopers and grenadiers with longer range and firepower and so on.

With TIE Fighters and Bombers, 2M repulsor tanks, infantry, troop transports, AT-STs and AT-PTs, you will cross a rural landscape dotted with houses, farming equipment and different crops, assault rocky chokepoints, face enemy nests with powerful E-Webs, grenades and sniper rifles, evade artillery bombardments, outsmart enemy reinforcements and fight through a town's narrow lines. Careful use of your units is needed to defeat a more numerous opponent.

Captain Keno This sounds nice... When I get my game re-installed, I will go and test out your "product" to see how well it goes. I'll let you know what I think.

Scenario Plays flawlessly and trigger work is great! Those artillery barrages though are pretty annoying and are almost instant! There should be some sort of delay on them.

Balance: 4
(It is balanced quite right, but I think that with the air units you have a great advantage, at leat at the beggining. Maybe more anti air mechs should be arround there.)

Creativity: 5
Very interesting idea, I am not familiar with the setting or I don´t know if it is cannon. Great work with the new units and the options the mod gives you!

Map Design: 5
Excellent! you really get the feel you are invading a city! it is really well done

Story/Instructions: 3
Here is where I think the scenario suffers. Instructions are clear, but I think it lacks a sense of story to the scenario. Just my opinion though

Additional Comments:
The scenario is great, specially the map design. But I feel like something is missing, it feels like a little empty to me in the sense that mostly all that you can do is battle the enemy, maybe putting to work those new triggers could help out in this aspect. Keep up the good work!
Darth Kiro I must mention that you have managed to make very good use of the terrain itself - now it is an important factor in the tactics. With the long ranged gunners and grenaders in the nests it much feels like real warfare. Great job!

It's good to see people have enjoyed this -I know few bother to play the maps still uploaded to this site, but if just a handful of people have fun with what I make, I've already achieved my objective.

"There should be some sort of delay on them."
I'll keep this in mind next time I design artillery strikes.

"but I think that with the air units you have a great advantage, at leat at the beggining. Maybe more anti air mechs should be arround there."
Yeah, the air/ground balance is too unstable. My next maps will solve it or do away with controllable air units completely.

"Very interesting idea, I am not familiar with the setting or I don´t know if it is cannon."
The military units and the world are my inventions, but otherwise it can be assumed it's all set in the Legends canon. But I'll still introduce my own changes or content from the new canon if it's convenient.

"Instructions are clear, but I think it lacks a sense of story to the scenario."
My plan is to have this map as part of a wider campaign, so the backstory will be further explained if I build the other scenarios.
Captain Keno Pardon me, but I finally got GBG re-installed on my system and am downloading it now, but It is possible that this might be very good experience. I am gonna see how it goes.
Captain Keno I'm going to be completely honest with you... I'm actually impressed with this campaign. I like it. I wish I could post a thumbs up, but this is technically not a forum post, so, good job!
