After Naboo (finished)

This scenario depicts what might have happened if the Gungans and Naboo had not won the war against the Trade Federation. Nice looking map, and fair amount of triggers too. This version has undergone some major changes from when I last posted, it may be worth your while to download again. Thanks.

After Naboo is a pretty interesting Build & Destroy scenario set in the swamps of Naboo. In an alternate-history to the film, Queen Amidala's plan to recapture Theed from the Trade Federation fails, and the Naboo must rely on the Gungans to hold out long enough to stop the Federation.

Overall, the gameplay is about on par with a typical random map game. Your base is located on a tiny island in the center of the map, with small enemy outposts on each corner, and a main base to the east. Managing your land, resources, and defenses can be pretty fun, but the ending of the map can drag on as you scour the map to find Nute Gunray.

One hiccup I've noticed is that the reinforcements given to you are largely ineffective. Every few minutes, a handful of AI-controlled Naboo Fighters and Bombers are spawned into the map, and tasked towards the enemy base. Once they arrive, they rarely ever attack the enemy, and by the end of the scenario there are dozens of aircraft in the sky doing absolutely nothing.

Balance: 3
Almost as soon as you start the map, you are attacked by Bounty Hunters and Sith. Your heroes (Queen Amidala and Obi-Wan) aren't nearly strong enough to deal with them, so sticking around often means you die immediately. The only reliable way to survive is to have them sprint directly to your base, stopping for nothing along the way.

Once you've located your base, there are very few challenges the map throws at you. The Federation will occasionally attack you with troopers, ships, or siege weapons, but never with enough to cause significant damage to your base. The hardest challenge is punching through the gauntlets of turrets guarding each outpost.
==========

Creativity: 3
'What-if' scenarios are pretty common, and can be fun if done right. The gameplay for this is fairly average, but there are some questions the story raises that don't really make sense, even if it is alternate history.
==========

Map Design: 4
The map itself is very well-built, with plenty of resources to defend, chokepoints to exploit, and numerous routes to your objectives. The area you build your base in is very small, which will force you to expand onto the mainland very quickly, causing you to have to put some buildings in harm's way. It makes for a neat challenge.

Visually, the author makes very good use of the numerous Scenario Editor props to create a neat looking swamp-jungle setting. The only complaint is that the wall/turret placement in the enemy base is very simple and rectangular, which doesn't look quite right.
==========

Story/Instructions: 3
There isn't a whole lot of story, outside of a basic overview of the plot, but your objectives are easy to understand and accomplish.

There are a few eyebrow-raising questions the premise of the scenario beings up, though. Firs question would be how exactly Obi-Wan and Amidala escaped Theed. Second would be what Nute Gunray was doing in the swamp instead of the Theed Palace.
==========

Additional Comments:
All in all, this is a pretty fun, if easy, scenario. If you're not really bothered by some of the small issues in the story and gameplay, I'd check it out.
