Style: Mix
After the creation of the Galactic Empire, many of the Old Republic supporters' trade routes have been cut off. One of those is the Planet of Naboo. The Empire fear a revolt by the Naboo and are insuring no supplies or arms reach the surface.

Naboo's youngest ever Queen, Apailana and her representative in the Galactic Senate make their way on a diplomatic mission to the Imperial controlled system of Grizzmallt. Their ship is shot at and they are forced to land, with only a few of the Queen's bodyguards on board.

On the surface she finds a war over the control of Grizzmallt, the empire fighting against a few of the remaining resistance soldiers of the Grizmallt military. This is more then Queen Apailana bargained for.

You must reach the Governor of this city in the clouds, and attempt to debate the Naboo's future in the Galactic senate with him.

Grizzmalt Entanglements is a mixed Fixed Force and B&D scenario, pitting a small group of Naboo infantry against significant Imperial resistance. It starts off pretty good. You control a small squad of Naboo troops, along with Queen Apailana and Jar Jar. As you progress you'll find additional units to aid you in the fight, as well as a small base. Sadly, you are locked into Tech Level 1, and are unable to produce any buildings besides resource centers. This means you cannot built additional prefab shelters, locking the population cap around 30. This restriction doesn't do any favors to the difficulty, which I'll address below.

For the most part the gameplay is your standard 'advance and shoot' down a linear map. It manages to be pretty fun until you must attack an Imperial base, which immediately throws a brick wall at you. I was unable to finish the scenario as released, and ended up having to modify it to enable Tech Level 2 and the War Center before I was able to finish it.
==========

Balance: 2
The scenario starts deceptively easy. You only face small pockets of Imperial troopers, and your heroes - especially the Jedi - all have enough hp to soak up some damage. You are able to rescue and recruit more infantry along the way, but they are always inferior to Imperial troops tech-wise. You have numbers on your side, at least until you reach the main Imperial base.

The base is defended by numerous Strike Mechs and Dark Troopers, which will tear your small army to ribbons in seconds. Your Jedi can distract them, but even he will be easily overwhelmed under the weight of their fire. You are given no units that can directly counter these. On top of that, the enemy produces a near constant stream of normal Troopers, which only multiplies the amount of problems you must deal with. The only way I could advance was to have my Jedi stand outside the walls and convert the Dark Troopers one by one before attempting to enter. And even with them dealt with I lost nearly everything to Strike Mechs and a horde of Mounted Troopers.

The base you gain is locked at Tech Level 1, and with no access to upgrades your infantry are pitifully underpowered in comparison to the Empire. Even though you capture a Mech and Hvy Weapons Factory, you aren't able to use them. A Tech Level cap isn't a bad idea, and can add interesting and challenging spins to a scenario, but you should at least be allowed to advance to TL2 and be given a War Center.
==========

Creativity: 3
Obscure places like Grizmallt are rare sights, and it's fun to see how people manage to interpret them in GB form. The story and gameplay of this scenario are fairly standard, but functional - even if it is punishingly difficult.
==========

Map Design: 3
Grizmallt has a very Bespin-like look. The paths you take are twisting roads bordered by Imperial buildings, and the whole thing looks very industrial. It's good for what it is, but there are no outstanding elements or terrain features that really catch the eye.
==========

Story/Instructions: 3
The story and instructions of the scenario are legible and easy to follow, but I wish there were more instructions/hints regarding taking on the Imperial base. It feels like the player isn't really given sufficient time, resources, or information to prepare for it, and there aren't really any clear solutions to the puzzle other than to waste dozens of troops in a meat grinder.
==========

Additional Comments:
An otherwise enjoyable scenario is marred by an unexpected difficulty spike, but I think it's an easy issue to fix. If you want to try and tackle that challenge, I think this scenario is worth a shot.
