~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
More Hellish Monsters and items then you can handle I'm sure of it!
The Doom Mod features a short Single Player Campaign consisting of about six or so missions, while following a story arc. The Mission goals them selves however, are supposed to be rather remnicent of the Orginal Doom Games themselves though. Anyways, along with the new campaign, this file features:
2 New Modpacks:
Doom Monsters 4 and 5 WHich feature even more hellish brutes and surprises, including: Weapons, Armour Bonus anmd other pickups;
The Orginal Mod Packs from the Promo Release;
The Promo Scenario Level;
And even music from Doom and Doom 2 including the tracks from Entryway, Dead Simple, and The Pit!
As an idea of the new baddies you'll encounter:
Weebacca - Demon (Pinky): Talk about the fast and the furious!
Krant Governer - Imp: Get Fireball'd!
Mech Destroyer (RA) - Cacodemon: Sweet Christmas! Big mouthed floating thingies!
Attack Mech - Pain Elemental: Deadly Fast Wootness
And many more!
Also, all Artic Bushes have been replaced by "Power-up" items to use!
DYNAMITE!!
So thanks! And please "RIP AND TEAR!! YOU ARE HUGE! THAT MEANS YOU HAVE HUGE GUTS! RIP AND TEAR!!" -- erm... Rate and Review, and leave comments... uh, yah...
Playability: 3
It really wasn't to fun to play... But than I haven't ever played doom. I had a chance to by doom 3 or something like that but it just looked like a shoot 'em up type thing.
Balance: 4
Well the sides were balanced actually. I think that you could make it harder, have more acid spills in that one level. Overall it was balanced but it was a little easy because I typed in some cheat codes for sight. Make it harder would be my suggestion.
Creativity: 5
I give this a 5 because of the mods. I liked the power ups mod. The graphics were very good. I got to admit they could be very useful. I only saw to power ups though. Some armour and a shotgun. Are there any more?
Map Design: 3
The map design was okay, nothing I'll remeber though.
Story/Instructions: 2
The instructions just weren't there unfortunatly. There was some story but not in game.
Additional Comments:
I like the file size because I have dial up internet. |
Playability: 5
It worked just perfectly without any glitches to be seen.
Balance: 5
It was very well balanced with the difficulty of the doom 64 games, and had med droids strategically placed.
Creativity: 5
Brings back many of my old memories playing some doom and even a bit of duke nukem.
Map Design: 5
Well designed. Fits in with the doom saga.
Story/Instructions: 5
Good story that ties in with the game. Few instructions, but that doesn't cut into the game quality.
Additional Comments:
Not all monsters were included. Need to add arachnotron and mancubas. These would add more difficulty to the game and spark more memories of the Doom franchise. |
I've posted this review (as well as some others), because there are some simply overated scenarios in Heaven. My purpose is to make them fall out of the top, so that there aren't be any more disappointed users.
Playability: 1
Why 1? Because of the stupid, stupid gamestyle. You have 1 overpowered marine, fighting against weak creatures. Sometimes you need to press some switches, but there is absolutely no more. As you can kill most of your enemies in 1 or 2 shots...(continued in the balance paragraph).
All the missions are straightforward. You move along a hall full of hell spawns all the time. [sarcasm] Hmh, I feel like something is missing[/sarcasm].
Balance: 1.5
As you kill most of the enemies with 1 or 2 shots and since they need to shoot at least 200 times to kill you, only their unrealistic number can make things harder. Despite that, most of the missions were depressingly easy and straightforward - especially the early ones.
The last level on the other hand is TOO HARD. It is beatable if you wait about 10 minutes to regenerate your health.
One more thing I wanted to mention - you will encounter imps, which can indeed regenerate, just like you, but this ability doesn't matter as you kill them in a single shot.
Creativity: 3-
Recreating Doom with an included mod is nice. However, the author did not even make the effort to change the units'names. I also felt like most levels didn't have more than 5 triggers.
Map design: 2.5
Not much to be said here. A small base, usually formed by few halls with strangely positioned, but well enough positioned eye candy, in the middle of a huge map.
Story/Instructions: 2
You would hardly understand anything from the story if you haven't played Doom. Only on the first mission it's described what has happened (even though badly). On all the other stages, the story tells what has your marine done.
About the instructions, they are almost missing. You have maximally 2 objectives on a level and these objectives are usually made of five words.
Additional comment:
I had big expections about this, since Doom is a classical FPS game. But this... this is more like a joke. |
