SYNOPSIS
War! In a climatic battle
above Corusant, the Sith Lord, Count Dooku,
is killed, however his fiendish lieutenant,
General Grievous, escapes.
Seeking to end the Galactic Sieges,
the Jedi of the Republic are sent to search
for the Separatist Armies.
When incredible Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi believes he has tracked the cyborg commander
on Utapua, the Republic 212th Attack Battalion's 7th Sky Corps are sent to the
sinkhole plantet, led by skilled Clone Trooper Commander CC-2224, a.k.a. Cody...
Scenario Information
- A mix of RPG and FF
- Rapid Gameplay. Keep moving.
Orginally, this was meant to be a multiple-part series, but then the sequel started getting to have a too-complex-and-hard-to-understand plot, so it may be continued, just not anytime soon. Anyways, enjoy. Don't worry, it works fine as a stand-alone scenario (as far as story goes).
Please don't review if you have nothing good to say. And for everyone else, enjoy.

Playability: 3
The "anticipated" campaign is finally here. Time to Review I, Clone. First of all there were bugs. Maybe you should have had more playtesters like Pacifica lol. Bug number one was with saved games. When I would try to reload my game it would work for about 10 seconds and then freeze up. This only happened after I talked to the wounded soldier, so I am assuming this is a taunt problem, which if it is incorrectable you should have a least mentioned. The second problem is with fighting the boss. I tried to garrison Cody in a bunker to hide and the game froze up and crashed. You really didn't have to do that. If you wanted me to lose for being sneaky you should have just declared victory for another player. Aside from these bugs a variety of other things contributed to a lack of playability. Although I liked the comic relief you added I felt it was out of place and detracted from the realism of the game. I think it was a good idea to include them however I think that it would have been better if you had made a separate area for all of them because I got confused with the setting/mood of your game. Was this suppose to be a erious campaign like the title suggests; Or was it suppose to be just a funny comic relief type scenario? It is very hard to fit both in and I think it would have been better if you stuck with one or the other.
Other than that the boss part which was suppose to be the climax of the game was slightly lacking as well as other certain things. Even though I killed the boss I never really understood why he was hurt when he walked over those flashing things (nice eye candy btw) but I was unharmed? Also why is the wounded Soldier offering me medpacks for some reason? If he is wounded then shouldn't he be using them himself. Its kind of like stealing money from a homeless person, it just doesn't make much sense. Oh and lastly why didn't Cody just shoot the magna guard when the magna guard was walking away from him. Maybe you could have made the bunker closer, or made a distraction for the player like a few droids?
Balance: 3
Some parts of the campaign were a breeze, like the very start. Other parts took me a while or I had to read the "cheat" type instructions to figure them out. Examples of this included the boss fight, which was good but I think you should have made that turret be destroyable cause it was really annoying and the jamming part, which was interesting but was not clear at first. What I am basically saying about this section was that some of the campaign was hard and that was fine, other parts of the campaign were way to easy (like the hangar) which detracted your score. Overall the good and the bad averaged together to make decent balance.
Creativity: 3
We have all seen Utapau from revenge of the sith and the battle that took place there. You do get some extra points however as I don't think many people have made campaigns about Utapau. The character you used was not orignal, but then again some parts were very unique despite being challanging such as the jammer. Overall some good some bad equals a 3.
Map Design: 3
At first I was amazed by the map design. I thought wow if this map is like this throughout then it gets a five. However as I went on I kept seeing the same rocks and shelters and rocks and shelters and sand over and over again. It wore my eyes down. Some parts were different like the hangar but overall it was homogeneous throughout. Next time make your map have more different sections, and not be so bland.
Story/Instructions: 2
Ok everything else was decent up to this point. I thought the whole thing with "god gun" was very silly. I mean who would actually name a project "god". But aside from this I didn't like how you tried to tie it into cannon at the end. I don't read the EU so the ending made me feel kind of lost and confused. Other than that there were spelling errors like "tuant" and you didn't even spell campaign correctly in your description for the download section. Finally another main problem was with the instructions in relation to the difficulty. It was either like I had to read them and cheat to figure it out or not read them at all. A better thing to do would be to blend the hints in with the normal instructions. Maybe instead of saying something like "take your people to this building and blow it up to stop the turrets" instead say "Our intelligenece reports that the CIS turrets are operated by a remote building that will cause them to explode if destroyed." Oh and write your sysnopsis, don't use Wiki. It just makes you look lazy. Or if you use it, don't tell me so that I feel mad you didn't even take the time to write your own descriptions and take points off.
Additional Comments: selur you did ten times better with this campaign then you did with heir to the empire. However heir to the empire was minor and only a demo so I went pretty easy on my grading of it. This is a stand alone campaign and tackles a much larger concept. Overall I felt this was an ok campaign but it need a little bit of perfecting to get a great score. Good luck with your next project!
p.s. If you didn't like this review than too bad cause this is the longest review I have ever written.[Edited on 07/30/08 @ 12:55 PM]

Again, thanks for reviewing. I can see it's somewhat fair, but I don't completly understand why you're so harsh here. Oh well.[Edited on 07/29/08 @ 06:45 PM]

"why you're so harsh here"
What part did you think I was too harsh on? |

Selur, I don't know what this guy's talking about, It didn't freeze once while I played it. Maybe its just his Pc. There was however one problem, In the Boss Battle, When I selected the Turret in the middle, Which I suppose was the G.O.D.G.U.N, The game crashed and went to Windows. But apart from that, and the Medpack problem I mentioned in my review, I don't think there was any problems, Especially not ones that would cause it a rating of 3.0

Thx WELLST, for answer silver's questions for me. :)
Now, if you'll escuse me, allow me to defend my case...
"Bug number one was with saved games. When I would try to reload my game it would work for about 10 seconds and then freeze up."
Hey man, If YOUR computer was having problems it's not my fault. I playtested myself a TON and had re-load on occasion, but nothing like that. My friend had no complants either.
"I tried to garrison Cody in a bunker to hide and the game froze up and crashed."
Sounds like your problem again, cuz I made no triggers related to the second bunker.
"I got confused with the setting/mood of your game. Was this suppose to be a erious campaign like the title suggests; Or was it suppose to be just a funny comic relief type scenario?"
The second one.
"understood why he was hurt when he walked over those flashing things (nice eye candy btw) but I was unharmed?"
There was triggers to hurt you, but you needed to be right on the falshs.
"Also why is the wounded Soldier offering me medpacks for some reason? If he is wounded then shouldn't he be using them himself."
Small joke in irony. No as funny as I wanted it to be, but still.
"Oh and lastly why didn't Cody just shoot the magna guard when the magna guard was walking away from him."
Then where's the fun?
"Overall the good and the bad averaged together to make decent balance."
Then why's it a three?
"Next time make your map have more different sections, and not be so bland."
I would like to see you do better... :p
""god gun" was very silly. I mean who would actually name a project "god"."
You'll notice it was G.O.D.G.U.N., so it stood for something. It was sort of a reference to S.P.E.C.T.R.E. In the orginal James Bonds, becuase you never know what it stands for.

Well Selur after that long analysis I shall reconsider my review.
-Playability will stay the same for the errors that occured,(even Wellst had problems even though they were different).
-Blanace, you made a good point with and I will change to a 5.
-Other than that creativity, map design and story/instructions stand. One final note I would like to make about the story is if you have to explain the reference to me then it probably is to ornate to use.
Good luck with your next project. I will look forward to reviewing it. |

Playability: 4
Very playable, except for the final boss fight which for some reason refuses to have one playthrough without crashing my computer X/
Balance: 4
It was well balanced, there were only about one or two moments where I felt overpowered somehow. especially when I went south instead of north east lol droidekas
Creativity: 5
It was intelligently made, I was able to figure out the mines by myself, but the autoturrets I had to look at the hint guide for, as it was a bit confusing; still excellent and well thought out
Map Design: 3
For some reason it didnt have the Utapau feel, I kept thinking I was on a tower in geonosis or something, but thats just me
Story/Instructions: 5
Great and clear instructions, didnt get stuck once
Additional Comments:
I just registered today and this is my first post ever =D sorry if I do something wrong feel free to correct me
anyways, great scenario and cool mods, the clone trooper's new look was nice. I nearly lol'd when jar jar's character model appeared named "oh em gee" and then he gets shot by your customized character guy
One thing that is very annoying to me is that no matter what, the final boss fight ALWAYS crashes my computer, ALWAYS. I think its because of the major dwarf sun spam, or, whatever those flashy sun things are called. OR maybe its just vista runs games terribly. if your computer ISNT vista, download and enjoy, if it is, download and enjoy all but the final battle, lol |
