Episode III: Obi-Wan vs Grievous [Update]

Author File Description
BanthaBob This mod replaces the one submitted on 02/04/07.

In this version, the Capital Ship has been split into two categories:

1) 'Regular' Capital Ship:
- Replaces REP/CIS Air Cruiser.
- REP = Venator Star Destroyer, CIS = Invisible Hand
- Fires a volley of green lasers.
- Designed for heavy bombardment.
- Pop count = 10
- Cost = 1200 F, 1200 N

2) Fighter Carrier:
- Replaces REP/CIS Cannon.
- REP = Acclamator Assault Ship, CIS = Droid Control Ship
- Launches a squadron of fighters, every 60 secs.
- Designed to provide fighter reinforcements.
- Pop count = 10
- Cost = 1200 F, 1200 N

The long reload time of the Fighter Carrier should keep the number of spawned fighters at a reasonable level.

- Graphics for Venator, Acclamator and Invisible Hand by Andrea Italy.

Yes, it includes everything from the first version, plus the new ships.
Obsidian Serpent Oh ok, i'll probably try it, but may not keep it since I have a bunch of republic mods already.
col veers im new to replacing stuff with swgbcc, and i was wondering where i put this thing. i have put it everywhere i could think of, naming it like 80 different kind of files, and i still can't get this thing to work out for me. IF someone could please help me, that would be great

You need the Mod Installer.

Go to the search field on the left side of the screen (at the top of the menu column). Enter 'mod installer.' On the search results page, click on 'Mod Installer Advanced 2.0'. This should take you to a page where you can download the program.

Once you have the installer, follow these steps:

1) Extract the *.MPI (mod-pack-install) file from the zip archive.

2) Run the Mod Installer.

3) Click 'Open Mod'.

4) Browse to the MPI file, and click 'Open'.

5) The README file for the mod will be displayed. Read it, then click 'Close Readme'.

6) Click 'Install'.

7) Wait a minute, while the MPI is installed.

8) When the install is complete, a confirmation box will pop up. Click 'OK'.

9) Close the Mod Installer.

10) Restart Galactic Battlegrounds.

The mod should now be available in the game. Graphics, sounds, icons, names and attributes for affected units will be updated.

To remove the mod, just run the Mod Installer again, and click 'Remove Latest'.
col veers thanks, i got it now
toa nuva I found a problem. For some reason one of the obi-wan modes has ultra-short sight range. (About 1 map unit!) I didn't like this so I tried changing it myself ,but it won't change for some reason! Why?

Other than that very cool!

I deliberately gave Obi-Wan a short line-of-sight in BLOCK mode. This was done so that Obi-Wan doesn't see his enemies until after they start shooting at him. Since the bad guys always shoot first, Obi-Wan's projectile looks like a 'deflected' laser. That's the idea, anyway. I intended BLOCK to be a defensive stance, not that suitable for attack. I didn't want him to walk around the map, spontaneously firing lasers at things. :)

I'm not sure why you can't change his LOS, but it might be because, when you switch modes, Obi-Wan actually dies, and is replaced by a new unit. The new unit does not inherit any of the bonuses that the last unit had.

I am working on a Yoda mod that will use a different implementation of Force powers. There shouldn't be any issues with LOS or inheritance. Hope to have it done in the next few weeks.

Speedde This mod is great, but it mades the REP/CIS too powerful. I love the capital ships and fighter carriers. May be next time you can make one for the GE/RA.
