KUMA\WAR Mission 65 : Blood and Oil


Baiji, Iraq - January 4, 2006 :
Violent attacks by the insurgency against pipelines, refineries and fuel convoys have brought the Iraqi oil industry to its knees. Oil refinement and fuel distribution is at a two-year low, insurgent threats are forcing workers off the job, and the people of Iraq-the second largest oil producing nation-are in a full-blown fuel crisis.
The Baiji processing plant is Iraq's largest oil refinery. After a 10-day shutdown due to insurgent threats, the Iraqi Army escorts a 60-tanker fuel convoy on the perilous, 150-mile fuel delivery run to Baghdad.
It is an ill-fated trek.
En route, the 60 loaded tankers are suddenly surrounded; blasted with machine gun fire and rocket-propelled grenades by hidden insurgents hell-bent on disrupting fuel deliveries from the Baiji refinery. 19 fuel tankers are disabled or destroyed altogether; Army vehicles lay in ruins; and four of the convoy's members are dead as a nation's hope for the arrival of its most precious resource goes up in a fury of flames.
In the playable mission, you command the heavy, hazardous convoy into Baghdad, and experience first-hand the difficulty of leading your men into an instant counterstrike against dozens of insurgents. If the rebels succeed in overtaking the convoy, your men will die. The refinery will close. The nation will suffer another devastating setback, and the insurgency holds, if only for a moment, the country of Iraq as its hostage.

In this mission, you command a squad of 4 men, carrying these weapons :
Two AK-47 Kalashnikov Rifles
One Dragunov Sniper Rifle
One MK-19 Grenade Launcher
You switch between these units, and issue orders to the rest of the squad using taunts.
You also control the movement of the convoy using taunts.

Your goal : To safely get at least one oil tanker safely past the insurgents and into Baghdad.

I carefully set up all five levels of difficulty, ranging from "There's no way you can lose this" to "There's no way you can win this."

This scenario is pretty much a demo.
If people like this style of game, and the way I have it set up, I will probably make KUMA\WAR missions more complicated and challenging than this one.

Please give me feedback on this!
My main question is this :
Would it be more fun if you commanded all 4 squad members at the same time, rather than one at a time?

KUMA\WAR is a registered trademark of Kuma Games. Kuma Games does not have anything to do with this scemario whatsoever.
I would, however, like to thank them for making a great first person shooter. All the missions, including Mission # 65, are based on real world events, and nicely set up.
Also, the game is free.

Playability: 5

Well, it was playable. But really, the taunt system was flawless, and there were no problems what so ever with that. Nothing I could take away in this catagory.

Balance: 5

It was al right. It all depends on what difficulty level you play on. I lost on moderate difficulty, but won on easy. So I'm not too sure about the balance for moderate and hard difficulty levels.

Creativity: 3

It was somewhat creative, but yet nothing too inovative. I'm sure in longer levels, the amount of creativity used would be increased. There are many posibilities with this plot.

Map Design: 2

Nothing fanncy in map design. Very bland and empty. I understand that desserts a very barren, but it could use a little more detail. The refineries and cities were not too detailed either. Besides the fact that you changed the name, they still didn't have musch detail. Also, there was no need for the first player having a command center. Also, some parts of the map that were visible had no purpose.

Story/Instructions: 4

Insrtuctions were understandable, and the plot was simple. Not too much detail though. Could posibly use some iteligence information too.

I enjoyed playing the scenario, and say it's a great idea. I'd like to see future additions too!
