Star Wars: A New Hope

Author File Description
Scarface427
File Details
Clone Campaigns required?: Yes
Style: Fixed Force
Number of scenarios: 8
This is my first campaign from a bigger project of the entire original trilogy.
Eight scenarios span the entire movie as you take control of all the heroes.
The difficulty is not the main priority, as most people will find the scenarios to be easy. Rather the attention is on good trigger work that stays faithful to the movie.
But I hope you like it; Episodes V and VI coming soon....

Playability: 4
Very nicely done, the best New Hope Campaign I have seen in a long time. Very Cleverly layed out.

Balance: 5
Nicely done as well. Not too hard but not too easy

Creativity: 3
I would of given you a 5 easily because of the great "Tie Attack" level, but, it was seriously let down by levels like the Death Star - fly and shoot, no thinking or constant momentum needed

Map Design: 3
Nice is some places (very nice Tatooine), but very underdone in others (i.e. The Death Star)

Story/Instructions: 5
Followed the movie very well with dialogue taken straight from the film

Additional Comments:
All round quite a nice campaign but has some downfalls in some areas. Also, sorry I kept bringing up the poorness of the Death Star but that is one of the reasons people download A New Hope campaigns - the attack on the Death Star

The playability is ok. The game has some bugs and often find yourself stuck by the NPC's foolowing making it frustrating sometimes. It is good to have the "back-up" but they often are never in range to shoot or help.

Balance: 4
The balance is nearly spot on. Your assigned characters seemed to have the right amount of armor or firepower. In the "avoid detection missions it is clever to make them weak for one shot kills but extremely difficult soemtimes. Perhaps if you had a way to escape the enemy if accidentally noticed. Otherwise no compliants.

Map Design: 4
I found each map very well designed but you could have used more of the map. On some of the levels only 1/3 was used. I would have like to see more intricacies and well-designated areas like the main computer on level 1 be labled as an item rather than an area.

Story/Instructions: 1
This is where I am going to gripe. The directions were almost non-existant and instructions on where ANYTHING is was rarely listed. Yes you did put the objectives but they were so vague I found each scenario a guessing game. I know there should be some difficulty and repeating a level is a challenge but i found repeating the level 4+ times because I couldn't find the code for to release them from the trash compactor. This is why I ultimately didn't care for the scenario.

Additional Comments:
I found the scenario very innovative and creative but with some typos, improper capitalization, and inefficient directions a killer to the scenario's score. I can't critize the story because it's not yours and despite what many say I can't recommend this as a "must download" file. I found my self using the forceexplore and forcesight cheats to find my way to the next objectives.
