Swamp World is a new map for SWBG that includes several different features to make an interesting variation in gameplay. This map is based on an original concept by Python for the MFO@Mapster team called The Swamp. This map script includes 2 sets of CCs, workers and scout bikes for each player, with partial water separations between players, with wide swamp terrain connections, and with an abundance of animal food on the map. There is still a randomized system of food resource distribution but it differs from the LA standard in that there is never more than one type of food resource absent, and there are more 'extra' food items at a distance from the starting CCs (plus an extra randomized food type - the wild Faamba). Food resources are on average much more plentiful than on standard maps.

The map always has a green base, and the forest terrain will randomly vary between jungle and the mangrove-like pine type forest. This map takes on a little different appearance as you increase player numbers, due to the crowding that occurs (8 players = 16 bases). This should always be played on a map size as large as possible, and at least one size larger than suggested for the number of players (2 players-Small map minimum, 3 players-Medium map minimum, 4 players-Large map minimum, 6-8 players best on Giant map). Even on Giant size map, there is some crowding with 8 players, but it makes for an interesting setup and battle.

The 2 CCs and 8 starting workers make things hectic at the start, as does trying to scout with 2 bikes. Perhaps you might want to play on normal speed! The abundance of natural food, including fish in the waterways, means you can hold off farming longer than most maps, and with the increased workers at the start, there is much quicker advancement or rushing!

Updated 4/28/02 to eliminate the 'Gungan bug' which could place very large fish on the Gungan CCs.
