[G]Central Sea is a new random map script that is a kind of hybrid between Precipice (Highland in AOK) and Sea or Large Sea (Baltic or Mediterranean in AOK), but with some differences. First, the sea is slightly smaller than either of these water maps, giving more room for land buildup and battles. Second, the players are arranged by teams and the teams are separated by rivers flowing into the sea. There are shallows crossings over these rivers similar to the Precipice map. This geography gives the possibility of a defensive style of play on land by walling the crossings. Food resources follow the usual randomized pattern, and the nova and ore are standard. The amount of fish is randomized on this map also, but this resource is never absent as the other food types can be. There are several randomized terrain patterns available, but none with snow terrain.

Note that on a 2 player game, there will be 2 rivers but only one crossing. Also note that if all players are on separate teams, with 6-8 players some may be further from the sea than others and have a less desirable start. I think this map works best with set teams.

Updated 4/28/02 to eliminate the 'Gungan bug' which could place very large fish on the Gungan CCs.
