Aggression Two is a new style of random map for SWBG which strongly promotes an offensive style of play rather than defensive. Many players have commented on how SWBG is a much more defensive game than AOK, which it is based on. This new map demands an early, aggressive offense for success.

How is the map designed to promote offense? Here are the details:

* * *All players start much closer together than on standard maps, so it is much easier to get troops to the next player.

* * *Cliffs have been eliminated, so there is less defensive structure.

* * *The forest close to the starting Command Center is several tiles further away and forest patches are somewhat smaller than usual. This allows a better chance of a successful early atack on carbon gatherers. It also means less defensive structure, making it harder to wall off.

* * *All players have far less starting ore near the CC, although the total ore on the map is not changed. A player must move out from his starting base to gain more, instead of just staying near his base and existing defensive buildings. Also, there is slightly less nova in the closest nova pile than usual, and the second and third nova piles are just slightly further from the base on average.

* * *The food resources are a little different than the Lucas Arts standard. There is still a randomization of food resources. However there is on average less easy food (berries and nerfs) than standard, and more harder (hunted) food. Much of the time there is a fair amount of the hunted food near the center of the map, promoting conflict over this resource. Workers who are spread out hunting are more vulnerable, so this allows better early raiding.

* * *Lastly, to promote early fighting each player starts with a Troop Center. This has two different effects: first, it allows a player to get military units out much sooner than in a normal map, and second, by providing one of the needed buildings to get to the next Tech level, it allows stronger attacks with upgraded troops sooner.
