This new custom random map for SWBG is an adaption of a map created by me long ago for AOKTC (Arctic Islands). The concept is a world similar to Hoth, very harsh with little to sustain life. Unlike the Hoth map in SWBG, though, there is much ice on the surface of this world, affecting how you can build up and how you can forward build since buildings cannot be built on the ice.

The land consists of islands frozen in the midst of a sea of ice. The size, shape, and terrain of the players' starting islands varies greatly, as does that of any extra islands around the map.

The only starting food guaranteed in this map is Banthas, since nothing else edible can survive here, and the number of Banthas per player can randomly vary. Fortunately there is a good supply of carbon in the form of rock, as well as the usual amount of nova and ore per map. Be careful, though, because there can be a fair number of Wampas on the map. Sometimes there are small cracks in the ice and some fish may be harvested throught the ice, but it is difficult as the food processing site may have to be located some distance away on solid land.

The main value in this map is the differnce in strategy forced by the limited land available for forward building. There are frequently (but not always) smaller islands toward the center of the map that can be used as staging areas or forward bases, but land area is restricted and it will usually prove hard to gain a permenant foothold on the island of a determined and skilled foe.

Playing this map script on a map size smaller than usual for the number of players can result in some crowding and distortion of the starting island positions, with possible dropping of resources.

This map has proved great fun in testing. Feedback appreciated!
