RESCUE AWRY
By: Michael Hargett

STORY:
**Takes place 2 years after Return of the Jedi**

Luke Skywalker had just been freed from Supreme Commander Mojja's space station by Han Solo, Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca. While flying back to the command base on Garvis 4, Han accidentally flew the stolen Imperial shuttle through a magnetic storm. All instrumentation went dead and they could scarcely land the shuttle.

Fortunately, while aboard the space station they had liberated several captive Republic soldiers, all willing to fight their way to freedom.

The mission is for Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca to arrive safely at the hidden Command Base.

HINT:
This is a sort of maze, so keep your eyes sharp for hidden paths.

Playability: 1
"Rescue Awry" isn't anything more than a boring giant maze... Here, you're told to guide your heroes protected by their troops through a maze consisting of not much more than tree and road terrain. This gets boring in about 5-6 minutes... And it doesn't help that you don't know where the command base is either. You just trot around the map randomly for an hour having no idea what to do. While all the triggers work as they should and this is finishable, it's really too boring to waste your time on.

Balance: 2
In this scenario you will die a couple of times along the way, but it won't be from your lack of skill or anything like that. You see, this is all just a big game of trial and error. You go one way and find towers, so you have to revert your save and go the other way. That's all there is to it mostly. The only part that is remotely tricky is towards the end, where you have to get everyone to the command base without a hero dying---minor micromanagement is required here. Other than that, really quite easy.

Creativity: 2
I'll give you creds for the large maze of a map and the decent story---the story in particular kept the intrest going for me. Those are really the only original or unique things in the remotest sense when it comes to creativity in this map... Nothing truly new here.

Map Design: 1
2 different terrains are used for 95% of the map. Enough said? I think so.

Story/Instructions: 3
Here is the only truly solid part of the scenario. The story unfolds well at the beginning with text to read, the bacground is given solidly and I know exactly what I'm supposed to do. While it's nothing special and there's no bitmap, at least it's there. The story unfolds while playing the scenario as well, but not as much as I would have liked. There is still enough here to recieve a decent score though.

Additional Comments: Not good for download. Giant mazes were a great gig back in AoE, with this game there's just so much else to get your hands on.
