1 word: turrets. 5 words: turrets, and lots of them. Since this is another scenario depicting the Battle of Hoth, the player begins with a set Imperial force on the outskirts of Echo Base that has to break through a ridiculously powerful first line of Rebel defenders, consisting of dozens of troops, turrets, mech destroyers, and cannons. By the time the player has broken through, the force is too diminished to be able to competently combat the rest of Echo base, which consists of scattered buildings with advanced turrets guarding each one. This scenario goes beyond "challenging" and crosses the line into "frustrating."

Creativity: 1
I can't say much for creativity, since this is obviously based off of the Imperial invasion of Hoth. For that, it's pretty much what you would expect, though the map design leaves something to be desired...

Map Design: 1
The entire map is blank, save for two banks of cliffs on either side of the player at the beginning of the scenario that are incorrectly and haphazardly-placed without direction or continuity. It reminds me of my n00b days struggling with cliffs and having no idea how to create them properly. The rest of the map is all snow, with Rebel buildings scattered throughout with enough distance between them that they are too difficult to locate. There is no sense of direction beyond the first Rebel line.

Story / Instructions: 1
We all know the story already, so I can't say much for that. Instructions though were certainly lacking. The only objective throughout the entire scenario was something like "destroy the Rebel base," leaving the player to simply meander about the map with an inadequate force, searching for anything to destroy. The power generator and ion cannon are on the map, but destroying them apparently has no bearing on the scenario, since you don't win until you destroy everything.

Overall
For a Battle of Hoth scenario, it was disappointing. There were no triggers and no specific mission objectives, which make the player less-inclined to want to suffer through it to reach the end. My recommendations: add specific mission objectives and design the map so that it doesn't require aimless wandering. Destroying everything in sight should not be the ultimate objective of this scenario. Email me if you want a hand on it.

Also, please get rid of some of those turrets.
