This is my first campaign. It is a simple-single scenario campaign based on the level Defection at Corellia from the popular nintendo game Rogue Squadron. The mission is simple, prvent the Capitol Towers and the Tech center from being destroyed. Be cautious, time is very important, and if you are not fast enough, you will lose very easily. It is very hard, but not impossible. Enjoy!

Playability - Well, it's a bit short, so short that it is little more than an interactive cutscene. Like, other conversions of ageing Star Wars games, it possesses a novelty value that usually elevates it's playability. For reasons I will discuss in the boxes below, this one doesn't. To treat it as just another campaign, or actually a scenario (which it is), you would see that there is no challenge and it requires little effort. What infuriates the player further, is that you get little effort from your Rogue Squadron friends and the Millenium Falcon. They either follow you about and don't shoot, or move about aimlessly.
Balance - There's not much to balance with, I feel I'm being kind to give you the average score, since you are in no real danger ever. The threat of losing the scenario because you 'weren't fast enough' is more a fault with the scenario itself, as it seems to only depend on what the Computer AI decides to do rather than 'how fast you go'.
Creativity - There isn't any, but in scenario's that are trying to simulate a game or sort, this category is bypassed. It does nothing new, but then it wasn't trying to do - 3.
Map Design - Coreilia is dead. Really dead. There are no people, no animals and nothing moves apart from air fighters. In this aspect, it is inferior to random maps. I took a long time thinking about this, I'm sorry man.
Story / Instructions - Gave a decent enough of detail about the history, the objectives were bypassed because everything is directed to you by in the scenario. 4, I guess...but, I think it's brought down by the simple faliure not to use the lines that are in the game. It is criminal not to tell than Han Solo's homeplanet is Coreilia, and no reason is given for him being there.
IMPROVEMENTS -
More life on Coreilia.
Snap views to Rieken and Madine inside their respective buildings when talking.
Use actual lines from the game level.
Allow the player to control all speeders.
CONCLUSION -
Sorry man, but I feel it's a fair score for this scenario. Try harder next time.

Playability: 2
It was so... boring. There was nothing to do except flying around and go to... where the bombers show up this time. Also, the other speeders were just following you, but not doing anything.
Balance: 2
It was all too easy. You could just fly around and if you clicked on the bombers you were in time to shoot them down before they destroyed the capitol tower. Nothing to do here.
Creativity: 3
There was no creativity, but I don't expect that from a Rogue Squadron scenario. Just a 3.
Map Design: 3
Just... average. Not amazing, not terrible.
Story/Instructions: 3
Clear, but not really good either, you could show some of the real objectives at the objectives part. Example: at the beginning, show 'check out the reading signs' as objective.
Average scenario, needs alot of work. It's just that a Rogue Squadron scenario is boring. I advise you not to make a Rogue Squadron scenario again and forget about this one. |
