Download Help

Welcome to the download help section. This section will explain how to use the types of downloads on this site, and how to solve common download problems. A Question-Answer format is used.

Q: Why am I asked for a username & password when I try to download a file?
A: Simply disable Download Accelerator (DAP) and you will be able to download any file on the site.

Q: Why is my download a ZIP file? How do I use it?
A: ZIP is a compression format used for almost all downloads here. To unzip a downloaded file, you must use a program such as WinZip. Extract the files to any folder and move them to the correct folder, or extract the files directly to the folder they belong in. (See below for more help)

Q: How do I use Campaign (CPX and CP1) files?
A: First of all, CPX files are for use with Galactic Battlegrounds (but also work with Clone Campaigns), and CP1 files are only for Clone Campaigns. Place them in the folder labeled “Campaign”, which is in your main Galactic Battlegrounds Folder. ( Usually C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds\Game\Campaign ) There may be a readme.txt file included that specifies where certain files should go – things like sound and video files – follow the instructions in the readme for the installation of those files. Once in the game, select Singleplayer, Custom Campaign, and then the campaign you downloaded.

Q: How do I use Scenario (SCX) files?
A: Place them in the folder labeled “Scenario”, which is in your main Galactic Battlegrounds Folder. ( Usually C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds\Game\Scenario ) There may be a readme.txt file included that specifies where certain files should go – things like sound and video files – follow the instructions in the readme for the installation of those files. Once in the game, select Singleplayer, Standard Game. Under Game Type, select Scenario … and you will be prompted to select a Scenario. Choose the one you downloaded.

Q: How do I use Random Map (RMS) files?
A: Place them in the folder labeled “Random”, which is in your main Galactic Battlegrounds Folder. ( Usually C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds\Game\Random ) Once in the game setup screen, select Random under Map Type, and choose the file you downloaded.

Q: How do I use Recorded Game (MGX) files?
A: Place them in the folder labeled “SaveGame”, which is in your main Galactic Battlegrounds Folder. ( Usually C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds\Game\SaveGame ) Once in the game, selected Singleplayer, Saved Game, and choose the file you downloaded. It will play automatically.

Q: How do I use Modpacks?
A: All files you need should be included in the download. Follow the included instructions, usually in the readme.txt file.

Q: How do I use AI (PER and AI) files?
A: Place them in the folder labeled “AI”, which is in your main Galactic Battlegrounds Folder. ( Usually C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds\Game\AI ) If you want to play against the AI, select the name of the AI from the drop-down box next to each computer player’s name on the game setup screen. If you want to use the AI in a Scenario, click the Players tab, then in the Personality dropdown box, select the name of the AI you want to use.
