Hey guys!

I'm gonna run an RPG if I can get enough people (4-6). You guys would be roleplaying generals/leaders in the war of your choice, and it would be a mixture of narrative and competitive gaming.

Think of it like a mafia game - during the day, you write what your character does, describing the battle or their actions in that timeframe. At night, you send 'tactics' posts to me, which I use to compare the two teams against.

It's possible to play canon characters, and would probably be advised for the first few rounds.

The two teams would be 2 vs 2 or 3 vs 3 for the first round.

But what are these teams? Well, I'm curious about that too - the two options I've narrowed down are towards the end of the Clone Wars, or just after the Battle of Endor. If there's interest from players - which scenario would you like to explore?

I will open one of my six mouths, and I will sing the song that ends the Earth.

. . . okay, so I'm thinking more here, and since it doesn't look like anyone's interested in the revenge thing, but maybe the inverse? Since you guys both have a character that's a veteran of the clone wars, maybe it would be interesting if one them had met or knew her father?

Mostly just a random thought, but also to keep gears turning and make this more solid.

As a volunteer, I would at first say he probably knew Shest--but serving on the bridge of a frigate he might have known Lassat, who would have been a young officer at the time.

. . . the tragedy may be that sentence, which I'm 80% sure is bad grammar.

So, do we want to talk about it? Are you saying that we could say that your character killed my character's father? Do you want there to be more to that (like did he know Altrick, or was it just Tuesday?)

Also, Xaph, do you want the rebel players to go into any detail/make up stuff for the capabilities of their cell?

Okay.

Since neither of the others have said anything, let alone lay claim, I'll go ahead and pick the desert planet, since it give me more room for Veeral's cell to specialized toward vehicles.

As fitting for a small cell, most of their equipment and vehicles are geared for speed. They have several civilians landspeeders modified for their use, some with mounted guns and armor, some with only hidden compartments for weapons. They also have a large number of swoop bikes and stolen Imperial army speeder bikes.

Not sure if I can have any larger vehicles, or how large.

The cell has a great deal of equipment for desert operations, most of it civilian/industrial level, but again some stolen imperial equipment (maybe even a few sand trooper uniforms, if allowed). They have also stolen military grade armaments in their time, though ammo for large weapons, like rockets, is limited.

The cell usually operates out of various dried/abandoned mines or facilities. They prefer to use hit and run tactics, particularly hijacking imperial vehicles and then leaving the slower machines sabotaged. They often focus on purely damages imperial hardware and installations, but do not avoid imperial casualties as they would civilians.

With her father you mean?

And I suppose the question is whether or not he (Altick) would have known/met your character during the Clone Wars.

Otherwise, it would mostly just be that Veeral has a good idea of where and when her father died. So Shest might remember the battle, if not who he was fighting (outside of 'rebels' obviously).

I would be interested in participating as a Rebel cell leader. It's been a while and I wouldn't mind trying my hand at this.

Don't worry, I'll be good. Xaph, just tell me you like to see out a Rebel leader, and I'll be happy to oblige and hopefully get this thing going again. If not no worries.

Naval is fine by me, but I can already foresee some asymmetrical warfare.

Just some final questions then (for now!). Do I operate in all three planet/planetary systems, or just one? And will you be laying out the characteristics of each planet/system? (Mountain ranges or geographic features, a population density and tech level, asteroid fields or moons or other nonhabital planets in system, are these planets on the trading lanes so lots of traffic, are there a lot of orbital platforms, habitations or shipyards, etc.)

And what is the scale and size of the Rebel forces that you would prefer to see me have?

From what I see of it so far, I can foresee mainly light freighters for smuggling and privateering and maybe a larger "mother" ship light a bulk cruiser or older military ship, or would you prefer a small squadron of capital ships with ground and snub fighter support?

Sorry for the all the questions, I really do want to be a part of this l, I just don't want to step on any toes.

Oh, goodness, don't apologize for your questions! QnA is the best way to build hype

The 'game board' if you will is all three planets. They are all operable upon, but the 'game pieces' may not end up being spread too thin. If either side ignores one planet, it could lead to an easier day for the other side.

Characteristics will be given in form of 'Aspects', a concept I'll explain later. Outside of that, though, they will be very freeform. After all, a desert planet can still have cities, areas where there are different densities. Basically if a detail is 'small enough' I'll let you guys write it and retcon the imgae I have in my head to suit.

There would be uninhabited moons most likely, but little of value and not the hugest means to settle them in this lifetime. Could make a decent pit stop though.

There are no significant shipyards or orbital defense platforms on the ships.

Your forces should be small, but with big friends. If you can win loud victories, with a small force, then your friends will start getting you involved. This is why the rebel forces are a bit more ambiguous for now - because based on your first op, you'll be trying to convert or accquire equipment for your side.

I will open one of my six mouths, and I will sing the song that ends the Earth.

I still don't know if we can have any heavy vehicles.

Also, I assume that once Scholomancer makes a character, his and mine should know each other, at least a little bit?

Also, while obviously we're playing the characters in charge of our groups, how much control do we actually have over our followers/subordinates?

Heyo, I think I'm set:

jssf1992, yes we should definitely know each other and share, supplies and intelligence, and to plan joint ops. But I think we should keep a cellular structure and only use code names with our characters.

Also, for background planning, my email is rysolo (at) hotmail (dot) com. If this kicks off the ground I would like to exchange a few ideas in regards to strategy and "loud" wins.

Side note: I was SO CLOSE to adding a Nebulon-B frigate, with another starfighter squadron and company of troopers, but I thought it would be a little too big. Anyway, feedback appreciated as to size of my cell, which is clearly a small squadron. If it is I'll down-size to those freighters I mentioned.

However, due to the strength of the Imperial Fleet, Xaph, let me know if you wanted to go in the other direction and I can add a few more frigates, support ships, and perhaps a Mon Cal or two.

Name: Jas Dellalt (Codename: DAGUET)
Rank: Commander
Species: Zabrak
Age: Unknown
Eye color: Black
Skin color: Grey and Red
Height: medium
Features: Several horns projecting from his skull, distinct red facial markings on face

Crews and Personnel:
Is a mixture of locals to the sector, and various members of species accross the region of space, and all committed to the overthrow of the Empire. Human, Zabrak, Sullustan and Mon Calamari crew members share work consoles with Wookie ex-slaves freed during previous raids.

All starships, light craft and snubfighters are heterogenous to reflect their secondary (or tertiary) status on the supply list from Rebel Command. This Rebel cell has stolen or scrounged many Imperial ships; they are used frequently in false-flag and other covert operations.A Battalion's worth of troopers are spread among the major ships to act as marines or as raiders. They have a few speeders and heavy guns, but no heavy assault vehicles.

Rebel Squadron:
Modified Battle-Horn Bulk Cruiser Vanguard
Green Squadron: 5 X-wings, 2 A-Wings, 3 BTL-A4 with rear turrets, 2 B-wings, with a few reserve craft for spares
Gold Squadron: 3 TIE Fighters, 2 Cygnus Recon Gunboats, 1 Interceptor, 3 3 Z-95 Headhunters

Ancillary Craft: Blue Group
2 Lambda Class shuttles
1 Zeta-Class Cargo Shuttle
2 Sentinel-class Landing Craft
2 Eta-Class Supply Barges
1 U-wing Starfighter\Support Craft
1 Sheathipede Escort Transport

2 Company Rebel Troopers

Hammerhead Corvettes Courageous, Glorious
Assassin Class Corvette Furious
Each corvette has a platoon of troopers and the capacity to mount snubfighters on the exterior of the hull.

Freighters\Small Craft:
2 Action VI Freighters
2 GR-75 Medium Freighters
1 YT-2400 light freighter
1 VCX-1000 light freighters
1 Murrian Transport

The Vanguard operates as the mother ship and will not get involved in combat unless to escape or absolutely necessary.

So we're almost ready to start, I'll be in contact with the Imperial players once they give me contact info, and the rebel players shortly after that.

Okay I'll give Discord a shot. Looks like my laptop doesn't have what it needs so I'll do the browser thing.

Scholomancer#5505 is the tag:

jssf1992, I do have a writing style of incorporating another person's character into my dialogue posts. This is not meant as disrespect or to make the character look foolish in any way, but mainly as a conversational foil to elaborate on some point. This allows us not to have a thousand one-sentence posts and cover a lot of ground in terms of story.

I'm using the idea of their preplanned supply drops to have face to face conversations and to build that background you're speaking of. You can do the next one if you'd like to cover off the other things you wanted! I landed on the planet as I wasn't sure if you have a spaceship in your inventory, but if you do then a deep-space meeting is also an option. I don't think Xaph will mind if we use as many of these as we need to, to speak. As long as I'm not dropping off AT-ATs or skyhooks hahaha!

Anyway the below post is kind of what I was looking for. I got a little inspired let me know your thoughts here or on Discord.

LOCATION: CHECK POINT Aurek

In a rocky canyon on a desert, two bands of Rebels worked to offload the contents of the light freighter.

Wisps of the sandstorm that protected them from sensors whirled through the canyon, but the ancient rock protected the rendevous. Still it was enough kicking sand and dust that all but two of the Rebels face masks or simple scarves to protect their faces while they worked. It suited Dellalt just fine, as it also improved operational security to prevent facial recognition.

Dellat adjusted his goggles against the blowing sands, then turned spoke to the other unmasked figure in the dusty canyon to continue the conversation.

"Here are as many of the supplies you requested that we could gather. Right now it's rations, radar kits and various types of camoflauge and ECM netting to prevent overhead survelliance. And, of course, water. There are also a few handheld one-shot missle launchers, with a few reloads apiece. We're still working on a couple boxes of thermal detonators and the EMP related anti-droid weaponry you requested. The Imperial ships we raid don't always have what we want when we steal from them."

The leader of the planetary cell nodded his approval and thanks.

"Also", the Zabrack said, handing over a few datacards, "this is the latest intelligence High Command has forwarded us about Imperial deployments and rotations in this sector. The garrison data looks to be most accurate from what we can tell, but the fleet and naval deployments are spotty and possibly inaccurate. We'll be conducting recon to fill out the wholes in the local order of battle before we do anything substantial.

The other being nodded his thanks, then spoke loudly to be heard over the winds. "What do you want from us?"

"Right now, I'm looking for sensor and intelligence data on the Imperial naval deployments, patrol patterns, as well as shipping. We're trying to build a profile of which ship is where, and of course the location of any orbital or planetary bases or facilities that would support Imperial operations. Also, while this is a desert planet, any fresh food or produce, or even ambrosias would be a welcome change from standard rations."

"Finally, of course", Dellalt said with a grin, "if you can steal a few ships or TIE fighters for us, that would always be welcome."

The second being smiled without amusement and nodded again his assent and thanks.

At the sound of a shout, both beings looked over at the freighter. Offloading, it appeared was complete, and the rebels were busy securing loads to their mounts, while the freighter began take-off preparations.

The second being walked Dellalt back to the light freighter. At the foot of the ramp, the second being spoke.

"When will we meet again, Daguet?"

Dellalt handed the figure another card.

"Ideally, at this time and at these coordinates, which will be the new Checkpoint Aurek, with all of the pre-meeting signals and usual fallback plans for Besh or Cresh if the Aurek is compromised. Hopefully, with the intelligence portfolios your team and mine can build and share, we can come up with a few joint operations. Nothing like many things happening at once to confuse these Imperials."

The second produced a datacard reader, and swiftly memorized the contents of the card. Ejecting the card, he handed it back to Dellalt.

Dellalt spat the sand out of his mouth, then mounted the ramp as it began to close. The second being turned back to his caravan as the first mounts began to move out. Theirs was a dangerous game, no time for comradely or sentimental goodbyes.

Briefly, the repulsors of the light freighter added to the sand blowing throughout the canyon, then the sound and light of the freighter receded and disappeared into the sandy mists. Below, the caravan, looking like any other local convoy, began their long journey.

Okay I'll give Discord a shot. Looks like my laptop doesn't have what it needs so I'll do the browser thing.
I only use the browser version myself, it's fine.
I do have a writing style of incorporating another person's character into my dialogue posts. This is not meant as disrespect or to make the character look foolish in any way, but mainly as a conversational foil to elaborate on some point. This allows us not to have a thousand one-sentence posts and cover a lot of ground in terms of story.
That's fine so long as you know when to not do it. Since Veeral's generally pretty proffessional, it works fairly well. Though . . . she's female.

Discord's format would also be helpful for actually making conversations that have proper back and forth dialouge.

I'll be in contact with the Imperial players once they give me contact info
I'm on Discord but have never used it (Zaarin#0691); my e-mail is in my profile (I think).
