What does this mean? Well, the axial guns on an ISD-I (at least in two scenes) shoot have a paltry firing rate of 35 frames per shot, or a bit better than 41 rounds per minute. Now, in naval gunnery terms, that's not bad at all for a small/medium caliber cannon. Exemplary, actually, and often only possible with autoloading.

Except... the big, hulking heavy twin turbolasers fire a salvo every 10-16 frames... and each of those salvos consists of a three-round-per-gun burst at four frames per shot. Or, burst rate of 360 rounds per minute, with an overall of 205 rounds per minute. There are naval antiaircraft cannons from WW2 that don't fire that fast.

And those big quad heavy turbolasers on the flank? Well, on the TF Battleship, they fire 60 rounds per minute per gun; once per second. On the ISD-I, 240 rpm. Averaging them all out (because differentiating which cannon is which is kinda hard, but the first two shots definitely come from the same barrel) gives about 195 rounds per minute. Per gun.


Yes, I am the only one who cares about these details. Me and the animators, because in some of the scenes, there is a definitely an attention to detail. But the Devastator attack just kinda... mangles everything. Which I suppose is poetic.
