Interesting turn of events, and quite frankly, I'm glad to see Filoni involved.
Perhaps an older Ahsoka Tano will appear in this series.
I personally hope they try to take a more series tone with the series, but some how the doubt of that eats away more than the Jar Jar Binks episodes of Clone Wars ever could. The Disney ownership is giving us new movies, the partnership with EA will give us new games; the next couple of years will determine whether or not we actually wanted any of it.
Whoa.

Well, we all know that some jedi survive Order 66 so Star Wars: Rebels will likely detail some more jedi purge moments. And yes...depending on how Clone wars season 6 (if there is one) ends up with the fates of Ahsoka and Ventress I do hope to see them both in the new series.

Rebels opens so many possibilities and their more than likely gonna turn it into a Classic Disney "Masterpiece" Little to no violence (no dismembering) It's too much to hope they'd leave the Jedi Remnants out :/ I would enjoy seeing Jade, Sitra, Thrawn, Lumiya, Gean, Justiss, Xasha, Falco Sang & Jaxxon O'course .
This series is an opportunity to completely explore the EU. Branch off into more series, since Underworld may never come

Doubtful
Although I can't see him embracing his Mandalorian heritage I can see him being a rebel spy in the 501st. Cody continued in Imperial service, that much has been confirmed.
Supposedly some Clones made their way into the Alliance. Though rapid aging would eventually hinder their service

I would like to believe that Rex at some point tried killing Vader
I could see this working. It would pan out quite well I think. Rex sees Anakin's gradual decent into darkness, he sees what he's becoming and doesn't like it, so he and Anakin fall further and further apart. Then maybe on a Vader rampage, or possibly at the assault on the Jedi temple, Rex gets too fed up and buggers off to join the rebellion. Later we can have some big clash between him and Vader where he tries to get revenge for all the bad stuff Vader did - Rex will die honourably.
But I doubt that this would really work. Mostly because Anakin doesn't really have a gradual shift into darkness, it's all pretty sudden over the course of episode 3. He started going dark in 2, and then it would seem like he'd had a gradual descent, but the rest of TCW screwed that up by portraying him as all friendly and and all-round good guy for the most part. Stupid Star Wars.
Remember the "Brothers" arc? I've always wondered why they put so much effort into developing those characters when they knew they were going to kill half of them off very horribly in the space of about 10 minutes. Why bother then?

Although I can't see him embracing his Mandalorian heritage
He doesn't have any; Karen Traviss can screw off.
I can see him being a rebel spy in the 501st.
Logically, he shouldn't be... Stormtrooper indoctrination being what it is, and the fact that these guys were bred to be loyal to the government... of course, logic and continuity haven't stopped Filoni and George (though, now that he might have been out of the way during Season 6's production...?) before. And even if George was gone, Kennedy is a firm believer in True Vision.
Cody continued in Imperial service, that much has been confirmed.
Only because of ROTS. If they could turn him too, they would. And who knows; maybe he'll be sad and full of regret after trying to blow up Obi-Wan and then immediately enslaving the Utapauans while still fighting the droids (...which he did... why?). Or maybe Vader executes him for failing to kill Obi-Wan and making it so he's stuck in the suit?
Supposedly some Clones made their way into the Alliance.
I think there's one, and only because he was stranded for twenty years and the first person he saw was Luke and immediately assumed him to be a Jedi General.
And the Kamino Uprising clones, but they weren't Rebels, just rebels. And, you know, they were all killed in an afternoon or something.
Though rapid aging would eventually hinder their service
Well, there are later batches. But again, they'd be loyal. Only the ones started in 32-29 BBY would have a chance at defecting. And even that's very slim.

Then maybe on a Vader rampage, or possibly at the assault on the Jedi temple, Rex gets too fed up and buggers off to join the rebellion.
But there is no Rebellion at that time!
At most, he starts blasting his fellow clones or imploring them to stop killing Jedi (presumably at a point where no Jedi are rushing at them with intent to dismember and kill). Then gets killed.
But I doubt that this would really work. Mostly because Anakin doesn't really have a gradual shift into darkness, it's all pretty sudden over the course of episode 3. He has a few moments... but with Ahsoka as a Morality Chain, it held him back. Maybe without her...?

But there is no Rebellion at that time!
I know, but that's pretty much what people do when they don't agree with the system, join "the rebellion". I guess THE rebellion doesn't get started for a while, but there were bound to be uprisings. And with the production crew being idiots and all that, they may want to shoehorn him into the founding of it. Of course maybe none of it will come to pass.
Because that's how you make people care that they're dying. And that's how you make them angry that they're being needlessly thrown away.
I appreciate this and would understand it in just about any other series, but that's a decent chunk of characters to be cut away from a show that likes to just use most characters in only one or two episodes. And it's more than half of the established clone characters, which I thought we were actually supposed to be getting a closer look at. It does kind of make a point, except that in that short arc I hardly got to know them at all - I was just warming to them and understanding their little quirks when they had to be bumped off. That doesn't make me sad or angry - just frustrated.

I see.
Basically, that arc was similar to it. Since Band of Brothers was based off actual events surrounding E Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. It follows their training, a near-mutiny they had before D-Day, and their drop into Normandy and progress throughout the European campaign up to the end of the war.
Some troopers washed out of training. Some were transferred out after the mutiny. We see a new commanding officer, he's developed... and he's killed in his plane in the second episode during the Normandy drops.
We see people who have been there from the start get killed... and we also see replacements sent in to reinforce the unit get killed too. That's how war tends to work. Making it random and sudden, like they did in the Umbara arc, adds the tension. I fully expected Rex (and Dogma, but who cares about him? ) to buy it.
Unlike the rest of the series, which follows characters we see in ROTS (and Ahsoka), there was actually an element of "will they make it out?" It was a very welcome addition to a show that otherwise lacked or quickly deflated all dramatic tension.

Well, one thing is certain: I am now desperate to see Band of Brothers!
I see what you're saying and I agree to some extent. Nevertheless, I still think that the series' way of trying to achieve this kind of tension is pretty much half-arsed. It's simply not good enough to carry the feeling, I think. I never really felt connection to any of the characters, except maybe Rex, but I never really worried for his safety. Maybe it's down to how I'm watching the show, trying to get involved, then realising how crap it is. Even in the trooper based arcs, which are fairly decent, the acting is sub-standard and the script is pretty terrible. I'm not saying that it should be excellent or anything, but with that kind of rep I can't see them upholding big ideas... like tension.
