The Scenario Design Help Thread

Greetings, fellow Scenario Designers. I'm just letting you know that the Help Thread has been emptied so that you won't have to shuffle through 25 pages of questions and answers before you ask your questions. Instead, take a look at the Scenario Design Page that Angel AoErat has provided and already posted for us in his other thread, and take a look at everything there is to know about Scenario Design before asking any questions.

Happy Designing.

OK I've got another problem.
I'm making a scenario where it displays things you can say, and you choose them by using taunts. Like this:
Bob: Hello
(ten seconds later)
1. Hello.
2. Sod off!
3. i r teh leetzors!!!!11!!!!111!!oneone11

Each thing is in its own part of the screen. (like 0, 1 and 2) but for some reason, only the text in 0 shows In the same scenario I've had text in different parts of the screen at the same time, so what's gone wrong now? I've checked and checked the triggers but nothing's wrong. What can I do?

Did you make a trigger like this :

Conditon : Timer 2
Effect : DI : 0
Effect : DI : 1
Effect : DI : 2

Maybe you created a trigger with a Effect : Clear Instructions and set its looping or something like that.

Well, maybe there is a mistake in the instructions like grey> <instruction>. Check...

I've went through everything several times, deleted the display instruction trigs, remade them another way, but still nothing works. Thanks anyway.

If not, well just remove this trigger and create a new trigger. It always helps

You could create them and then task them into a transport couldn't you? And if the unit was created right under the transport, and you tasked in the same trigger, the same effect would happen, I think.

Recheck all your triggers, if you have a trigger that you need to select a unit, make sure its selected. It also might be depending on the number of units on a map. If you go too far past the population limit it will crash. Check that none of your units have the uber +7000000 hp. *that'll crash the game*

I hope I helped,

Oh yeah, and ask Xcal too He should be able to help you some. I would but Im not anywhere near you now

Damn. I'm really nervous and confused . I can't still solve my problem with bridge You know the bridge is not activated (it's on water) and you must activate it. Whne you do it, I can't still get across. Kyle is stopped before the activated part of the bridge .

EDIT : I found a solution.

In the scenario editor create a completed bridge. Next, remove a part of it by using trigger. Next, make a trigger, which will task object before the hole in bridge. Next, create a trigger, which will add the missing part of the bridge and deactivate Task Trigger.

I'm not sure whether this is so much of a problem with triggers but rather with the Game it'self, or perhaps my verison.

The trigger goes like this:

Condition: Timer (2 seconds)

Effect: Create object.

Source player: player one

Object list: Map revealer 4

Now this seems to work on any map type except starfield. Has anyone else encountered this problem and is there a way round it.

Any help is apprieciated

thanks

Download this utility :

http://swgb.heavengames.com/descpage.php?type=Utilities&id=28

Unzip to your scenario folder. Open it. Use Map Copy (it's located in Terrain section in the scenario editor) to copy part of the space area with Map Revealer. Open your scenario. Open Terrain section. Click Map Copy and now use your mouse tu put copied area from the previous scenario in the map. And now you have visibile space area

You need to download Winzip, you should be able to download it here www.download.com.If you already have it installed just right click on the file and add it to Winzip.

In Tevious's TPM campaign, there was a trigger trick in there that gave the impression that Qui Gon and Obi wan were deflecting the lasers from two droidekas, I was wondering if anyone knew how he did this.

Any help is much appriecated

thanx

Simple bro. First, place a invisible target in front of whoever you want to deflect the lasers.

Secondly, make sure that you change ownership of the invisible target to a player that both units are on 'enemy' with.

This will cause both units to attack the target, giving the illusion that the Jedi is deflecting the shots.

Then, once youw ant the scene to end, change it back to a player who's on ally with both unit's.

Although, you gotta be carefull when changing ownership, cos you could cause units elsewhere on the map to fight aswell.

Hope that helped

I can

1. Click Submit File (under Downloads - General) on the website http://swgb.heavengames.com/
2. Type your forum name and password
3. Type of Upload, Title of upload, style.
4. In Clone Campaigns Required choose Yes (for files with sc1 or cp1 in the zip file) or No (for files with scx or cpx in the zip file)
5. Attach the file : click on the right button, choose the zip file (it must be a zip file and it must have less than 2 MB).
6. Then type number of scenarios (if you are sending a campaign) or number of players (if you are sending multi-player scenarios and recorded game)
7. Type Author's Comment. You can use tags like on this website, for example [color=red]text[/red]. Use this section to describe the story of your scenario, or describe key features of your download, or anything else that can help visitors know what you are offering to them
8. When you completed everything, click Submit Completed Form. And wait for uploading the file.

I hope I helped

Greetings
