The Scenario Design Help Thread

Greetings, fellow Scenario Designers. I'm just letting you know that the Help Thread has been emptied so that you won't have to shuffle through 25 pages of questions and answers before you ask your questions. Instead, take a look at the Scenario Design Page that Angel AoErat has provided and already posted for us in his other thread, and take a look at everything there is to know about Scenario Design before asking any questions.

I want a hero (Anakin) to garrison into a Tf mech destroyer. And when he does I want the tank to become myn to control, and the enemy switches to ally, and I switch to be their ally. But if he gets out then the tank switches back to the previous player and the enemy switches back to enemy and switch back to their enemy. Then you have to garrison him again and it repeats. I need expert advice on this. If I never figure out how to do this then my whole scenario is ruined.

Hmm...Lemme see if i still remember this

Unit Garrison Trigger
Loop - On
Starting state - on
Con - Unit Garrisoned (the TF mech, 1 unit of player 1)
Eff - Change Ownership (tank to your player)
Eff - Change Alliance (The Enemy to your ally)
Eff - Activate Trigger (Unit Unload)

Ahhh!! i forgot the trigger after that! I havent used the editor for 8 months

Well, what stumbles me is the garrison unit effect. I don't know what I set as the object. Tank or Anakin?

Hmm... I can give you an actual script for that. I used a similar system in the campaign I was making, except no change diplomacy.

Anakin would be the object, and the tank would be the location. I used this in my Jabba's Palace scenario, so it should work.

Is there a better Scenario Editor than the default one in the game? Also, is it possible to change unit prices in the buildings etc. Troop Center, Airbase, Hvy Weapons Fac. etc. If so, please reply, I need this!!!

Geonosian Cook, you should set the unit garrison trigger as the tank.

iChris, the only way i could think of changing the object prices, is to edit the Genie.DAT. Go to the modpack forums and read the tutorials made by Mace on the genie editing. Good luck

I had no questions about scen designing, so I didn't look here >_>

anyway, where do you put downloaded files, whether they're mods or campaigns(I know that scens go in the scen folder, but when I put downloaded campaigns in the campaign folder, nothing happens)

Edit these lines in the genie.dat:

civ_1_unit_2_cost_01_type: 0
civ_1_unit_2_cost_01_amount: 150
civ_1_unit_2_cost_01_unknown: 1

civ_1_unit_2_cost_02_amount: 150
civ_1_unit_2_cost_02_unknown: 1

I *think* The types are like this:

0 = Carbon
1 = Food
2 = Nova
3 = Ore

OR

0 = Nothing
1 = Carbon
2 = Food
3 = Nova
4 = Ore

No, I have only once or twice posted there and it wasn't under any Star Wars related name, but I think GameFAQs is a very good site, so that's why I put it in my sig, maybe I should remove it though...

I don't know how to edit that game.det or whatever you said... Could someone do it for me and then I could download and replace it? Also, if I were to do it myself, would it automatically be playable to the people I transfer my file to? That is an important aspect... If it can't be playable to all without having to download an edited unit pricing thing... Then I will just have to forget it.

Also, Wok's AI guide is whack... It really doesn't work. I copied and pasted his shit into Notepad and saved it to the AI directory as well as naming it correctly and setting the type to all files. IT DOESN'T WORK!!! No wonder in the first few paragraphs he says "New people to AI scripting usually mess up this one." BECAUSE IT DOESN'T work. Just thought I'd tell you that.

What is wrong with it? I can't find the error and I really want to work with AI. Could someone please send me an AI script where a chat is sent infinately so I can figure out how it all works?

It does work. You probably put in the begining thing even though you don't need to.

QUESTION: How can you make a objective where you have to destroy a certain number of enemies like on the Control Ship attack in Episode 1.

well, if you need to destroy say 100 units to win, you would do

Condition-Accumulate Attribute-Kills-100(Player Number)
Effect-Declare Victory(Player Number)

If you needed to kill 100 units of Player 2, you'd set another condition that says

Condition-Accumulate Attribute-Losses-100(Player 2)

you can have both so that when player one kills 100 units of player two, he wins >_>

dunno about objective stuff...lemme check that out

I hope I'm posting this on the right board. Well, I'm working on a pretty large scenario and part of it depends a lot on a casino segment. I've played at least one casino scenario before, but I've been having trouble coming up with some simple casino games using only triggers.

The only things I can think of would be boring enough to make the player quit after a few minutes... and enough work to make me quit after a few minutes... Any help here would be great.

I got a problem:
I know that in order to make player 1 to see what his allies do, I need to make the research effect - holonet tranciever. I did it to player 3 which I want it to be the allie for player 1. I also double checked that player 3 is allie with player 1. The problem is that I still can't see what player 3 is doing.

I've been trying to make an AI for my brother's scenario. We need it to make it so that for every unit a player looses, that player would get one nova. I already know how to do the nova part (cc-add-resource), but I don't know how to do the unit part. I've looked through Wok's AI guide, but maybe I just missed the part about that. So, is there a way to make is so that:

Player looses 1 unit
=>
gains one nova
