The Scenario Design Help Thread

Greetings, fellow Scenario Designers. I'm just letting you know that the Help Thread has been emptied so that you won't have to shuffle through 25 pages of questions and answers before you ask your questions. Instead, take a look at the Scenario Design Page that Angel AoErat has provided and already posted for us in his other thread, and take a look at everything there is to know about Scenario Design before asking any questions.

When you say transmissions, I assume you mean Display Instructions text. In the effect, there will be a little black box above the text box with a default value of 10 in it. Change it to a higher number, and the text will stay on screen longer.

After you set the object, use the "Go to Object" button, and if the view does not snap to the unit right away, then try selecting it again.

Oh; sorry RoguePlayer. I explained it wrong make (in Program Files) a folder called Microsoft Games. Open that folder. In it, make one called Age of Kings. Open that. In that make one called Game, and then make one in that folder called Scenario.

That should work. If it doesn't tell me and I'll check it again.

The correct directory is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires II\Scenario.

Question 1: I need help, and quick! I'm making a Final Fantasy VII Campaign and I need some help. How do I do the healing taunt trick in SOTE. I need this trigger so you can use potions in my Final Fantasy VII Campaign.

Question 2: I thought somebody might have a trigger trick so you can do summons. I want it so that when you type Shiva or Bolt 2 into the chatbox you get extra attack for a set period. But you must have that materia.

Like, read the thread.

You can't do anything with string input; only numbers.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. This is how the Explosion Trigger works.

Trigger 1:

Effect: Create Object - Explosion Trigger

Trigger 2:

Effect: Kill Object - Explosion Trigger (set the area where you created it)

Hope that helps! These triggers will set off the explosion immediately. You can add a Timer, Object in Area, etc. conditions in the second trigger for your convenience.

Sorry about the double post.

How can I make a unit garrison a building? I don't want them to start out as garrisoned. Then, how do I keep them garrisoned?

You'll have to loop the task trigger, because the computer always ungarrisons its units out of buildings.

I cant remember on how to make a conversation. Can someone refrsh my memory? I can get the first line to work but it wont activate Line2 and instead activates Line3

Talk 1
Loop Off : Trigger Begin At Start Of Game Off
Condition 1: Timer : 2
Effect 1: Flash Object : The Person Talking
Effect 2: Display Instructions : Timer 10 : The Message
Effect 3: Activate Trigger : Talk 2

Basically you just keep doing that until the conversation is over.

2. I am also having problems w/ my disabled units. When I advance to Tech Level 3, everything is enabled for some odd reason.
3. Do my AI files and Sound files save within the .scx file or do I have to put these in a .zip with my scenario?

Task the unit to the building.

Let me clarify my problem. In my new scnario I have an army reporting in. There are 4 lines between Officers and Enlisted. This happens at the beginning of the scenario. Now my problem is that Line 1-3 are skipped and Line4 is the only works.

This is what I have.
Line1
Start ON Loop OFF
Condition: Timer 2
Effect : Flash object
Effect : Display instructions
Effect : Activate Trigger (Line 2)

Same with Line 2

The first timer is okay, but the rest of the timers should be set by the number in the subsequent Display Instructions Timer box.

Striker_, I tried tasking a Sith and a Hero to a command center. That didn't work, so I tried a turret. Neither worked.

I am afraid you have to use another way here it is,

Walk In
Loop On/Off : Activate At Start Of Game On/Off
Condition 1 : Bring Object To Area : The Object : The Area
Effect 1 : Remove Object : The Person
Effect 2 : Activate Trigger : In Building

In Building
Loop On/Off : Activate At Start Of Game Off
Condition 1 : Timer : 1 Or 2
Effect 1 : Create Object : The Object In The Building

Hey chaps, me again. Concerning my question earlier, what I meant was that the instructions would stay up on screen for a fraction of a second before being replaced with the next bit of dialogue. Is there a "wait" command, or similar, like the "pause" command out of Starcraft Campaign Editor?
