The simple answer is that mobile games are just completely different from PC games - there's really no comparing them. Have you ever tried running a .exe file on a phone? It's just not something you can do. Don't be fooled by the number of PC-to-mobile ports for games that we now have. Rest assured that these have all been essentially completely rewritten, and in most cases I don't think even the graphics assets are reused.
Think of it as trying to fit a triangular peg into a square slot: you'll need to significantly restructure the peg and there's no way it's going to fit perfectly regardless of how much you cut it up - it just wasn't made for that slot. You'd end up being better off crafting your own triangular peg from scratch and painting it the same colour as the square one, and for that you need a significant amount of experience and skill. I'm three years into a CS degree, and I've still never touched a mobile app (though I do have a course on it this year), and without the proper background it would be very difficult to throw yourself into it.
Don't get me wrong, there have been people who have decided, with very little prior experience, that they would like to make an app and end up succeeding, but they are outnumbered a million to one by the people who decided it was too hard or lost interest before finishing (and sometimes before really starting). It would be an especially daunting task if you started off with a Windows program as a base - you would just end up remaking the whole thing, at which point the project isn't really worth it and something original would have been a better use of your time.
It's a long road that has no turning - It's never too late to mend.
