So, I was thumbing back through the Thrawn books to find some technical details that Zahn put down. And I came across some interesting temporal details, instead... the original plans for Star Wars' backstory after the OT was concluded. Zahn based these off direct consultation with George.
So, in Dark Force Rising, Luke is looking up biographical data on Jedi Master Jorus C'Baoth. He gets the following data, that I'm going to paraphrase. All dates arepre-Empire.
112 - C'baoth born
95-90 - Attended Minric University
90-88 - Attended Jedi training center on Kamparas
88 - Began private Jedi instruction
86 - Promoted to Jedi Knight
82-81 - Member of Ando Demilitarization Observation Group
81-79 - Member of Senate Interspecies Advisory Committee
79-77 - Personal Jedi advisor to Senator Palpatine
77-74 - "Member of Jedi Force assembled to oppose Dark Jedi insurrection on Bpfassh"
74 - Assumed title of Jedi Master
70 - Assisted in resolving Alderaan Ascendancy Contention
68-66 - Assisted in mediation of Duinogquin-Gotal conflict
65 - Attached to Outbound Flight Project
64 - Outbound Flight departs Yaga Minor
62 - Named Ambassador at Large of Xappyh Sector by Senate
So, I guess the last one is a posthumous honor? Anyway, after meeting Joruus on Wayland, Thrawn ominously remarks to Pellaeon that the being they just met isnot the Jedi Master biographed above... but a clone. One made from cells taken just before the Flight's departure, which Pellaeon says would've been just before the Wars. And the clone would've been produced in the early days of the war.
Fast forward, Zahn was told that the war ended in 35 BBY (not Pre-Empire). Furthermore, the planet Honoghr was devastated in that same year, likely toward the very end of the war.
And apparently the savior Vader showed up "a few months" after the catastrophe.Vader. Not Anakin.
This is where the first Unfortunate Implication arises. Originally, Luke was supposed to be 20 in ANH. Leia was 18, because they weren't related yet. Retcon Leia to be 20 because they're twins as of RotJ, and that means Vader existedas Vader 15 years before Luke and Leia were born.
So, Padme had a leather kink - confirmed.
Anyway, the Clone Wars were a long, brutal affair. The founding of the Empire is ambiguously set... remember that "Darth" wasn't A Big Evil Guy title at the time. So, it was probably theorized that Darth Vader, as we see him in ROTS between the Office scene and Mustafar, was an active Jedi Knight doing Palpy's bidding for a time under the Republic and during the transitional period.
Discuss.
