Maybe you know the answer!

Or have your own questions. And we can discuss them. But I have talked poor FA's ear off thanks to an episode of Terrible Writing Advice on cultural worldbuilding and that's not fair. So I'll yammer at all of you.

-What kind of entertainment is there in SW? We've so far seen two bars and an opera. What about home entertainment? Is there SW Netflix? Or is it like the bad old days of TV, where there was what was on and that's it?

-What is the popular culture? Where's the art? The quotable lines from popular entertainment? The jokes? The memes (Dawkins sense as well as current usage)?

-What do people eat? I recall Darksaber referring to Leia having a salad while Han ate gelatin cubes, and Jaina fantasizing about a nerf steak in one of the Killik books. What about ethnic cuisines? Do you go out for Tionese? Nabooian? Oh, no, wait, in the new canon apparently people drink efficient protein shakes and like it while eating "real food" makes you soft and bougey. Good thing I don't do that in my RPs.

-How does the educational system work? What do people actually know of galactic history? Of science? Are they given a liberal arts education, or a more technical one of "here's what you need to know to survive"?

-We know there's jizz music (ugh), but what else is popular? With who? Are there generational divides?

-What are the great philosophical and political quotes bandied about in discussions? You can hardly have a real-world discussion without using quotes of political, philosophical, or other notable figures.

-What's the state of humor? Harsh political satire (K, that doesn't work too well under the Empire)? Fart jokes? Risque humor? What is more acceptable and kept in the public consciousness?

-Who are the notable entertainers? For who will you trade shifts just to see their show?

-What about edutainment? Is there a Sesame Street, or Bill Bye the Science Guy (we don't speak of his current, politically-charged clusterf**k of a show)? Wishbone? PBS in general? History Channel (back before they were the "conspiracies and pawnshops" channel? Discovery? Animal Planet? Is there a Galaxy's Funniest Home Holos with children hitting their parents in their respective species genitals/faces? WHO IS SPACE BOB SAGET?

-What is the current trend in entertainment programming? For example, in the 50s and early 60s, the Western ruled the airwaves. These days, it seems police procedurals are hot. Legal shows were hot for a while. What genre is the most popular in a vast galaxy-spanning nation with a million worlds? Do they tweak by sector? By planet? By galactic region (Core, Colonies, Inner Rim, Expansion Region, Mid Rim, Outer Rim, etc)?

Please don't respond with, "It's just an action-adventure about space wizards fighting Space WW2 fighter combat." I know that. But the characters don't. <_<

EU makes extensive reference to holovids, which I think some of the more recent media has continued to imply is canon.

I'm going to go with "not well" if people willingly elect a 14 year old who tells us she wasn't the youngest monarch elected.

Adder moss chips and Gungan bouillabaisse for two sir
Gungan bouillabaisse was a very strong and thick soup named after the amphibian Gungans of the planet Naboo. The Sullustan reporter Den Dhur compared the smell of a cantina on the planet Drongar similar to Gungan bouillabaisse and once again recognized the smell at the Ploughtekal Market on the planet Coruscant.

What about people not from planet Mary Sue?

Yes, but is that more akin to a movie? TV show? Or, in this day and age, YouTube videos, or even a channel subscription? Then again, I remember when the Holonet was supposed to be TV. Because the Internet was too newfangled for SW writers.

Since SW has been around through some major changes in technology and media... they're trying to stay current since, after all, if you have interstellar spaceships that flit across an entire galaxy, you probably have some kind of computer network system. Then again, I remember seeing a game a while back in an alternate history... the premise was computer networking technology was forsaken for spaceflight. So by 1994, we had Mars bases with voice records on cassette tapes.

Ah, another question... was there actually a normal evolution of human civilization? Was there an industrial age on Coruscant, with steam engines, air planes, dirigibles, et cetera... or did the Rakata come along and enslave everyone, jumping them from stone to iron-age into the interstellar age with their fall? And, of course, other species'... did they share in this fate as well? Prying at the Builders' magical devices with their stone knives while clad in animal skins?

I'd always assumed humanity discovered spaceflight/FTL travel by accident, hence the questionable morality and ethics shown by many characters and the c. 1945 aesthetics.
