Hello. I'm very new to the new trigger's added to EF and I've been having difficulties with a particular idea that i want to implement. Basically I'm trying to make the large Star Destroyer capable of garrison troops. However, I have yet been able to apply the necessary triggers with "Add Ability" or whatever else is needed to accomplish the task. If there is anyone here who has the know-how to get this done could you please give me a triggers-for-dummies step by step approach to it. I just need to know what i need to do. Any help would be very much appreciated.

This should help, I think.

Expanding Fronts Trigger Guide

It's there in the original post at the "New Effects" section, under Give/Remove Ability in green text.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to add the garrison ability to units that aren't transports, assault mechs, or mech destroyers. What you could do is change the graphical appearance of any air unit already with the ability to garrison using the Change Unit Data effect and the StandingGraphics, WalkingGraphics, AttackingGraphics variables.

Thank you Tevious. That article was very helpful. So thank you for pointing me to that.

Captain Keno. That's good to know. The Star Destroyer (the much larger one not the mini sized one) does show it has a garrison of 0/1 which of course means that it has the "capacity" to store something or another. but I've gone through every type of trooper that i know of that is capable of being garrisoned and it wont take it. Could you illiterate to me, or anyone for that matter, what changing the StandingGraphics, WalkingGraphics, or AttackingGraphics variables? is that perhaps what is wrong with the Star Destroyer that it "looks" like a ship but it hasn't been properly "programmed" as one?

In this case just select a transport unit and change its graphics. The value you need to enter is the ID number of the graphics. It'd be best if you download Advanced Genie Editor 3. There you will able to see all the properties of every unit in the game including standing, walking and attacking graphics ID. Remember that you'll need to change all 3 graphics.

Yeah, the unit is given a capacity for some reason, but it still isn't the correct class of unit to use the garrison ability.

It'll change the graphics of another unit, in this case you can change the graphics of a unit that functions the way you want so that it looks the way you want. The Star Destroyer is an air ship, but its not programmed as an air transport. What you need to do is take an Air Transport and create a trigger with the Change Unit Data effect and select the Air Transport as the target. In the comment box, type this:

SET StandingGraphics 10649

Create another Change Unit Data effect in the same trigger and type:

SET WalkingGraphics 10649

Create another and type:

SET AttackingGraphics 10649

The appearance won't change until the unit is tasked to do something, so maybe also create a Task Object effect and move it a little too. You also will want to change the name to "Imperial Star Destroyer". If you need it to attack too, you could try giving it an attack value and changing the projectile type.

PS, you got Keno and I mixed up.

Thank you every. Tevious. Darth Kiro. Captain Keno. I never would have thought of doing that. But its helped me immeasurably with opening my eyes on how to approach triggers; thinking outside the box so to speak. So thank you very much. I really want to work with the Game Genie Editor. I'd like to do some tweeks that i feel like where left out. A good example is for the Republic having it so that when you upgrade the Jedi Starfighter at Tech-4 that it upgrades from a Delta-7B into an Eta-2 Actis interceptor (the one from Revenge of the Sith). I'd also really like to practice and learn how to reconfigure the audios. Like when anakin speaks its actual audio clips from hayden christensen from the movies. But that's for what i have the day and the time lol. But thanks again everyone. You where so helpful. And thank you Tevious for looking up those ID numbers for me. I'm downloading the program so i can find those values as well for future ideas. thanks again.
